Thank you for sharing your concerns with me regarding the Time Warner Cable and Cablevision/Madison Square Garden (MSG) dispute over televising the New York Mets baseball games. I agree with you.
It is unfortunate that both sides have yet to reach an agreement. Cable companies cannot continue to hold sports fans hostage in this quarrel.
In order to keep the pressure on, I have scheduled a second public hearing on this matter for Tuesday, May 3rd at 9:30 AM at City Hall.
In the meantime, after listening to both sides, I have asked Cablevision/MSG to accept Time Warner’s offer to allow them to air the games while negotiations are ongoing and that they would make any agreement retroactive.
Rest assured, I will keep working on this matter until the Mets are back on the air.
Sincerely,
