Buzz: Newsday’s Davidoff Says Sell

by Matthew Cerrone on June 21st, 2005 at 8:37 am

Newsday’s Ken Davidoff writes that it’s time to sell for GM Omar Minaya.  Davidoff says the Mets should trade Tom Glavine, Mike Cameron, Braden Looper, Kaz Ishii, Doug Mientkiewicz, and Mike Piazza…

i agree on all accounts, except piazza…fans will come to the park in september to see him wave goodbye, which is probably worth more than what the team will get in compensation from a trade

Thought: Minaya and his Nationals

by Matthew Cerrone on June 21st, 2005 at 8:25 am

The Nationals are 41–29, three games in first place and have the third most wins in baseball…

deep in his heart, in a place he will not speak of publicly, i wonder if mets gm omar minaya is a bit proud and a little happy for his former team, seeing as his past doings, while in montreal, are a lot of why the team is finally winning…

News: Cameron Could Play Tonight

by Matthew Cerrone on June 21st, 2005 at 8:15 am

Mike Cameron was examined in New York yesterday and had fluid drained from his knee.  All seemed to go well…

“He could possibly play (tonight),” Mets GM Omar Minaya told reporters following the procedure.  “But he needs to go out there and run. Until he gets out there, we won’t know.”…

i’m wondering if this new group of trainers the mets brought in dduring the off-season aren’t a bit over confident in their ability to nurse guys back from injury…is the organization so confident in this group, that maybe there is a reluctance to sit guys down on the disabled list, because they believe the medical staff will fix players up sooner than later…

…just something to think about
