Stat: Diaz Struggling

As Peter Abraham points out in the Journal News, Mets OF Victor Diaz has hit .195 in 41 at-bats since he was recalled on May 28…

Abraham adds that Diaz could be a ‘candidate for demotion, if only to increase his playing time.’…

…and to continue his work out out at first base, i might add…

Minors: Rubin Breaks Down the Farm

Although sites such as NYFanSites.com and FlushingsFuture.com due a fantastic job keeping us updated on the Mets minor league system on a daily-basis, for those simply looking for a quick re-cap of the state of the team’s farm system, Adam Rubin gives a position-by-position breakdown in the Daily News of what’s in the Mets pipeline to eventually help out at Shea…

that was a very long sentence…wow…

…earlier in the off-season i talked with j.j. cooper at baseball america about the state of farm system, and he basically said what the scout who rubin quotes as saying, as well, that the mets have nothing immediate but a lot of potential stashed deep in the system…

…cooper believed that this season would prove a lot for the mets minor league system, in that they have a lot or young players who need to get their acts together…and if they do, they’ll be in a great shape…otherwise, they could be looking at a system full of back-end relievers and utility players

…of the mets next 16 games, 13 are against teams from the national league east, starting with the phillies tonight at shea…

…once complete, it will be july 19, with less than half the season remaining and a week and half until the trade deadline…

…talk about your big games…and your hard work…
