The Los Angeles Times reports that Mets GM Omar Minaya has ‘little interest’ in acquiring LHP Odalis Perez from the Dodgers ‘because of the $21 million’ the pitcher is owed between this season and next…
…hmm…so, i wonder if this indicates that the mets would be interested if the dodgers picked up part of the tab…

Among other topics, the two discuss OF Lastings Milledge, LHP Jon Neise, 1B Junior Contreras and RHP Alay Soler, of whom Meyers says, “I am not sure of how much of an impact he will make, but I do see him getting a shot out of the bullpen.”…
…by the way, in case you missed it, yesterday evening i gave my two cents on soler and pelfrey, and when we can maybe expect to see them later in the year…
In the Press & Sun Bulletin, Brian Moritz reports that B-Mets LHP Henry Owens continues to experience pain in his right forearm, most likely attributed to a small tear in his ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, which was diagnosed by doctors in New York City on Tuesday…

…the buzz yesterday was that hernandez will likely remain at triple-a, given how well Kaz Matsui has played in his absence…
The criticism of Jose Valentin continues, this time by Joe at Mets Today, who astutely writes, “In the eighth, he was on deck when Kaz Matsui attempted to score on a sac fly, and would have been tagged out if the catcher had not dropped the ball. Where the heck was Valentin? His role was to be directly behind home plate, shouting direction to Kaz as to whether he should slide or come in standing. Instead, Valentin was busy pine-tarring his bat or trimming his mustache or who knows what.”…
…or swinging a plunger in the dugout, as the camera showed during the game…what was that about anyway…

…the buzz from the minor leagues is that RHP Heath Bell will be sent back to norfolk when gonzalez is promoted on saturday…
According to John Delcos in the Journal News, Mets GM Omar Minaya confirmed for reporters that Brian Bannister will make at least one start in Triple-A before being activated from the disabled list…
…by my calculations, that would mean he’ll be unavailable for the series against the yankees…yikes…
