News: Duaner Sanchez Out for the Season

by Matthew Cerrone on July 31st, 2006 at 3:11 pm

when i wrote this this morning

…there is some unconfirmed chatter out of new york that says the mets will need to acquire help in the bullpen, because a pitcher is hurt and headed for the disabled list – though i have not seen any such thing reported in the newspapers…

…please, don’t make too much of this, since i can’t confirm the information, but with this odd nugget plus the talk about houston, it makes me wonder if the mets are interested in lidge, though i have no idea who they would give in return

…this is what i was refering to…

At FOXSports.com, Ken Rosenthal is reporting that Mets RHP Duaner Sanchez is out for the season after seperating his shulder in a car accident…

…from what i can gather, the mets learned of this information at 1 am, but have been surpressing it so not to impact the trade market…

…damn…

Buzz: Pitching Market Stars to Collapse

by Matthew Cerrone on July 31st, 2006 at 3:01 pm

…as  the deadline draws near, Phillies RHP Jon Lieber, Pirates RHP Kip Wells and Nationals RHP Tony Armas Jr. seem to be drawing the most interest

…the mets are said to have the most interest in armas, while the red sox and rangers keep discussing wells and lieber…

…the dilemma for many teams, the mets included, appears to be whether to trade now, or wait to see what happens on the waiver wire, when more players may become available as teams fall out of a playoff race, while contending teams get a better feel for what they’ll need in october
