Glavine hasn’t lost a decision since July 2nd at Colorado. The Mets are 5-1 in his last six starts. In ten starts at home, Glavine is 6-1 with a 3.14 ERA. He’s lasted at least six innings in all ten starts at home, allowing more than three runs only once. In two starts against the Mets this season, Olsen is 1-1 with a 5.73 ERA (7 ER on 16 hits in 11 IP).
The Notes:
A number of Mets have hit Olsen well, including: SS Jose Reyes, who is 6-for-13 (.462) with two doubles, a triple and an RBI; and C Paul Lo Duca, who is 6-for-14 (.429) with three doubles and four RBI.
SS Hanley Ramirez, who stole a career-high three bases last night, is 5-for-15 (.333) with four doubles vs. Glavine.
With Glavine’s 300th win on Sunday, the Mets now have three pitchers with double-digit victories this season (along with John Maine and Oliver Perez). The Mets only had two starting pitchers with double-digit victories last season (Steve Trachsel and Tom Glavine).
The Marlins are 14-19 vs. left-handed starters this season.

…enjoy…and as always, let’s go mets…
CF Carlos Beltran, who homered in his return from the disabled list last night, will sit tonight vs. Marlins left-hander Scott Olsen.
Apparently, Beltran is less than 100 percent from the right side.
…ugh…why bring him back if he’s not ready…
Know for some of the best burgers in Manhattan, and for their ridiculously long lines, Danny Meyer’s Shake Shack may be coming to CitiField in 2009.
Grub Street, the New York Magazine food blog, cites a high-level source near the situation that the location of the long-awaited sequel to Shake Shack is Citi Field.
Danny Meyer would neither confirm nor deny the report.
figure out how to make that deal happen, Shack burgers are on the
house!”
…i’ve braved the long shake shack line on many a summer and i can attest that yes, the burgers are pretty damn good…i hope at the very least they bring mama’s over to citifield when the new stadium opens…mama’s seems to be the only edible food currently sold in shea stadium…
…hat tip to Can’t Stop The Bleeding for the link…
In The New York Post, Tom Glavine tells Mike Puma that he would likely retire if the Mets were to win a World Series this year.
“If we were to win the World Series it [would be] real hard for me
to say, ‘Man, I want to play again next season,’ ” Glavine said
yesterday. “Now you’re walking out on top of the world.
“But
if we had a disappointing ending like we had last year, there’s a sense
of unfinished business and a bad taste in your mouth that you want to
have go away.”
…watching tommy end his career with a ring on the mets sounds a lot nicer than dealing with him considering atlanta again…
Since Joe Smith was sent down to the New Orleans Zephyrs on July 27th, he has appeared in three games and pitch 2.1 innings.
Smith has issued 3 walks and allowed two earned runs and now has an ERA of 7.71.
…the mets bullpen has been good since mighty joe’s departure so i haven’t missed him too much, but hopefully he continues to improve…
