Quote: Milledge Couldn’t Brake
In the first inning, Lastings Milledge motored from first on a double by David Wright.
Mets third-base coach Sandy Alomar initially waved Milledge in, but then put up the ‘stop sign’with Milledge just a few steps from third. Milledge rounded third, tried to stop, but was running too hard and was tagged out mid-way up the base line.
Milledge, as quoted by the New York Post…
“I saw him wave and then I saw him stop me at the last minute. I couldn’t brake. I was running too hard to stop. I saw the stop sign at the last minute. It was a miscommunication. I was rounding third, he stopped me at the last minute. I couldn’t brake and get back.”
