Stat: The MVP Race
As of right now, the following players are on pace to finish the season with these statistics…
| Player | AVG | HR | RBI | SB | OBP |
| David Wright | 0.320 | 30 | 110 | 35 | 0.415 |
| Matt Holliday | 0.335 | 30 | 130 | 11 | 0.390 |
| Miguel Cabrera | 0.320 | 37 | 115 | 1 | 0.400 |
| Albert Pujols | 0.320 | 40 | 110 | 2 | 0.420 |
| Prince Fielder | 0.280 | 50 | 120 | 0 | 0.375 |
…in other words, i think it is safe to begin speaking of wright when discussing potential MVP candidates…if the league values power, then pujols and prince will win…if they value balance, then wright or holliday should get it…
…as case could certainly be made for D’Backs RHP Brandon Webb, who is on pace to go 17–9 with a 2.60 ERA, while leading his team to a division title…however, pitchers rarely win…
