The Orioles, and O’s co-GM Jim Duqette, purchased the minor league contract of RHP Victor Zambrano from the Pittsburgh Pirates for cash considerations.
…jeez, man, old habits die hard, i guess…
Zambrano made Toronto’s opening day roster and went 0-2 with a 10.97 ERA in 10 games, including two starts, before hitting the 15-day disabled list on May 10 with a strained right forearm.
He signed a minor league contract with Pittsburgh on August 10 and was assigned to Triple-A.

…Update…4:55 pm…
…the moderation has been resolved…good luck…
The Mets (81–61) defeated the Astros (62–81) by the score of 4–1 in Shea Stadium today.
For a recap and boxscore, go to Yahoo! Sports.
…welcome back, Pedro Martinez…he topped out at 92 mph, worked more or less every speed on the radar gun, his change-up was wicked, he even threw his looping-curve ball for strikes…he got in to some trouble during his final inning, in the fifth…with a runner on second and third, and two outs, it looked to me like had no interest in facing Mark Loretta, who is impossible to strike out, and who hit a single up the middle in his previous at-bat…so, again, to me, it looked like pedro tried to hit him, and put him on base…nobody will agree with me…but, i’m thinking he didn’t want to waste the pitches…he missed him, and then threw three straight weak fastballs off the plate, to put loretta on first as planned…Mike Lamb then popped out to center to end the inning…crisis averted…as planned…
…pedro walked off the mound to a roaring ovation from the crowd, which was followed by a curtain call…gotta love it…
…following the emotional lift from pedro, the standing ovation, etc, Moises Alou steps in and rips a home run in to the bleachers…game over…
…speaking of ovations, hat’s off to the Shea faithful for acknowledging Craig Biggo, who is from new york, in what is his final game in new york…nice job…biggio tipped his cap back, which was nice to see…
…again, Guillermo Mota did his best to lose the game, but got a ground ball to end houston’s threat…
…again, a strong showing from Aaron Heilman, and it appears Billy Wagner is back on track…
…nice sweep…taking care of business, guys…just like the song says…

The Pitchers:

In his last two starts against the Astros, Martinez is 1-0 with a 1.59 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 17 innings.
…from what i understand, pedro will be on a similar pitch count as he was in h is first start…
