Note: The Six-Man Rotation
By Matthew Cerrone - Sep 10, 2007 12:55 pm

According to MLB.com, Orlando Hernandez will start tomorrow against the Braves.

In his most recent Under the Knife column for Baseball Prospectus, Will Carroll writes that from this point forward the Mets will go with a six-man rotation.

also, if you are the guy who still watches the NBA, and you also like math, know that BP will soon launch Basketball Prospectus

…Update…1:20 pm…

…upon further review, Basketball Prospectus will be about NCAA, not the NBA, which makes much more sense

Anyone know which game Pedro will pitch against Philly? I’m going to Friday’s game, hope to see Pedro on the hill.

  3. The Stache says:

Makes sense to get some guys extra rest down the stretch, especially the younger ones in the rotation. I like this move.

The Basketball prospectus site will focus on college ball.

Isn’t Glavine really strict about his routine, and days in between starts? I remember readying some where that he does not like to deviate from his usual days rest.

I think that’s an urban legend .. he’s said a few times this season that it doesn’t bother him as much as it’s been made. I think the biggest worry with him is that he’s “too strong” .. he seems to pitch better when he’s not amped up as much, being that he relies on the change and the super-change! ;)

I would think that one extra day for the last three weeks wouldnt bother him too much… I’m sure there have been pleanty of days this season (let alone over his career) when the team has had an off day in between starts and he wasn’t moved up in the rotation…

I’m sure the needed rest will make up for the inconvienence of the extra day.

I have a feeling Glavine, Perez and Pelfrey will pitch on 5 days rest while Hernandez, Martinez and Maine will pitch on 6 days rest.

I am waiting for no starting pitchers and a 14 man relief staff, and all one inning pitchers.

  9. Metropoliben says:

They should go to a 7 man rotation once that number Mr Met is holding at the top of the page gets to zero.

Or just put Duque and Glavine on ice.
