According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Mets’ shortstops and second basemen haven’t had an error in their last 39 games.
That is the longest such stretch by any middle infield in Mets history. The previous mark was held by the 1995 Mets middle infield tandem who went 34 games without an error.
Luis Castillo joined the team 32 games ago and has no errors in that time.
…i am so confident with castillo out there…although he seems to hobble around a lot, when something’s hit his way it’s almost an automatic out…i don’t think i need to comment on Jose Reyes…

Castillo has replaced Floyd as having the most painful-looking walk, ever!
a little of that may be “swagger” ;)
Agreed…
I care to think of it as and “experienced swagger”
I agree, it hurts me to watch him run and play the field. I really think the Mets need to rest him a little more and give Gotay some more starts at 2b.
Didn’t the ‘99 Mets infield have some ridiculous streak without an error?
didn’t Reyes make an error like within the last week?? When he tried to shovel the ball to Gotay….I could be wrong..but I coulda sworn it was an E on Reyes
That was ruled a hit
reyes also would’ve gotten an error on the ball that deflected off of him last week to castillo, who turned the dp anyway. Cohen explained that reyes received no assist on the play, because he would have received an error had no out been made. That said, who knows how many random occurrences like this happened during the last streak!
won’t nest below this level?
Warning: the following comment has to do with a Yankee:
I just had an A-Rod sighting in Miami. That dude is huge.
I saw Eddy Curry in White Plains. Now that dude is huge.
agreed. but, for a baseball player, it’s just a bit shocking. i walked by him and i was like, damn! no wonder he hits so many homeruns. the guy is big, but not bulky.
I once saw Manute Bol. You want to freaky?
Funny thing is, he was listed as 190 when he was a rookie, and is at leat 230 now, probably closer to 240… hmmm…
well, when i was 19 i was 150 and i’m now 175 at 33.
And when I was 19, I was 191 (collegiate sprinter). By the time I was 25, I was just under 250 (bodybuilder), and now (28), I’m a svelt 208.
I’ll never deny that people can put on LOTS of muscle using diet, exercise and LEGAL supplements, as ARod likely did; what bother me is selective suspicion.
BTW, Charlie, I was in no way accusing you of that. It’s just your post happened to be a perfect stepping-stool to my (overused!) soapbox…
We had better all get down on our good knees and pray that Castillo will stay healthy enough to take us as far as we can go.
really very impressed with him…keep it going.
It seems like Reyes boots a lot of balls but never gets charged with any errors.
maybe because he gets to so many balls he has no business being anywhere near?
Why iz dis syte werking allweird fur me
Cuz it’s got a Bozo filter.
why are all the comments in orange very annoying
ugh yeah everything just turned orange .. thumbs down.
back to normal phew ;)
I look at Castillo and just wish that he was 3 years younger, because the 03 castillo would be simply amazing for us. He has been so good, but just imagine if he was healthy. Him and Reyes would cause havoc like no other tandem. Did anybody hear Omar Minaya talking about how Fernando Martinez hand-eye coordination was so good that he was hitting pea’s or something from 100 feet away. Thats good hand eye coordination. I also heard him raving about Gomez the other day, I cant wait for next year too see how him and Milledge progress. This is our year we are peaking at the perfect time.
Welcome to the good life mets fans. Here we go. Reyes is going to get hot this week.
