Man, what a memory. It was probably the number one moment in my life as well. I was a college student who lived and worked within 5 blocks of Ground Zero, feeling like a refugee. And boy, did that moment really lighten my life, if only for a few moments. Just watching the clip sends chills down my spine. Not to sound corny or trivialize anything, but the Mets are the third love of my life (wife and dog come first), and it was great that one of my "loves" could come through on that day and make a difference. Sorry to get all sappy, but it was indeed a moment to remember.

Many thanks to MetsBlog and its readers for the nice comments regarding my Bugs & Cranks Mets piece from earlier today.

Having read the criticisms regarding the Benitez comment, I went back and read the article again, and now agree that a slight against Armando did not fit well with the rest of the story.

The point I was trying to make, was that I did not want to let anything ruin one of the most amazing moments I've ever experienced during a baseball game, if not my entire life. Hence, my early exit. But in retrospect, that point was somewhat lost with the Benitez comment, which has now been removed from the post.

Thanks again to the MetsBlog community. It is highly appreciated.

I checked the radar on weather.com....The red patches (which I interpret as 'bad') have already passed, and only the light green patches ('not as bad as red') will go through Flushing. Also, I had heard that the rain is supposed to subside early in the evening.

So based on my extremely unqualified opinion, I'd say the game goes on as planned, with first pitch within 20 minutes of schedule.
