One of the funnier Keith moments was the other day when they were showing old clips from the 86 playoffs of the Mets being befuddled by Mike Scott, and staring at the scuffed balls in the dugout. The camera pans to Keith circa 1986 and Hernandez goes “Ooh look at that, that’s when I had a 32 inch waist.” Hilarious.

I’m also an ‘extra innings’ guy and think our guys are the best.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the Atlanta guys rub me the worst. And Mark Grace is o.k. with the D’back’s but Darren Sutton needs a valium at the minimum.

I dont’t like to disrespect others, but if you do not LOVE the Mets booth you have no business writing about sports. Seriously, Darling is quite probably my favorite broadcaster in any sport. Ever. And Mex makes my top 5.

I love them all. Keith is all the more endearing for those of us who remember his ferocity and intensity as a player. Ron has a slightly rueful quality, along with his analytical skills, that is also very engaging. Gary meshes with both of them beautifully. They all know the game, and better yet, they all have a well-developed sense of the absurdity of the game, and an appreciation of the passing baseball carnival.

Keith is hilarious and insightful. Ron is an Ivy league genius who knows pitching and is extremely perceptive to even the smallest of details only a former player could be. As a prior comment read, Gary is perfect in managing that booth. He da man.

I’ve always viewed Keith constant harping regarding the rigors of his daily schedule as an attempt to bond with the common listener. Who doesn’t complain about their job? It is clear he just wants to have fun, just like the rest of us. And who is Phil Mushnick to be constantly whining about journalistic integrity. He works for the Post! There isn’t a more biased fishwrapper in New York.

To appreciate how great these guys are, just listen to the 1986 broadcasts with Tim “the Met outfielders are playing “TOO DEEP” McCarver and Fran “score it 5-4-3″ Healy. Ack! All 3 are sharp and insightful

Without Keith, Ron, and Gary, what would I blog about? :)

Really, I love the guys. Yes, occasionally I could do without Keith and Gary’s movie reviews, but all in all to get sporting event, comedy, and buddy flick all in one suits me just fine.
