Quote: Keep it Going
By Matthew Cerrone - Sep 12, 2007 9:25 am

Last night, Paul Lo Duca hit a two-run home run, giving him at least one hit in each of his last six games.

Since returning from the disabled list, Lo Duca is batting .304 with three HR and 13 RBI in 14 games.

Lo Duca, on his hitting, while talking to reporters after last night’s loss to the Braves…

“I feel good, and hopefully I keep going.  This is the healthiest I’ve been a in while…it feels good.  Hopefully I can keep this going, have a big September and all the way in to October.”

…he just looks sharp, and awake, and quick…on monday night, he jumped to his feet like a jack-rabbit, when trying to grab a wild pitch from Oliver Perez…last night, like other nights over the last week or so, he turned on a fastball as though his last name is Alou…good stuff…

thats good he’s finally healthy. maybe willie and the doctors knew best after all when he was doing all his pissing and moaning to come back to starting early.

heres to lodooka having the best month of career. i will be rooting for him.

I don’t understand why the Mets decided – evidently before the season even began – that they would not bring him back next year. It doesn’t appear that they have a prospect ready to replace him next year. And I don’t see any free agents who would represent a clear upgrade.

i’ll be perfectly honest, with the FA crop looking worse and worse and there being nothing in the farm, i could think of worse options than bring lo duca back AT a considerable discount.

its defintiely smart to not sign an aging catcher on the decline who is now having injury problems. objectively, all bs aside, you just dont do it.

all that said, i really hope we trade for saltalmachia and throw that dumb trade the braves made back in thier face even more.

i mean its not smart to resign an aging catcher in the middle of the season. but if its the best option on the table you do it after looking the market over.

that’s a bs story — the mets said at the beginning of the season there would be no talks until the off-season. Why would that suddenly change in september?

Who knows if they will decide to negotiate with him or not. It looks like they decided to wait out the year and see how he did, which is a smart idea with a 35 YO catcher!

It does look like his little vacation did him a world of good. If he does come back, besides a little more rest by using th eback up more, he should probably schedule 1 or 2 little vacations on the DL. Maybe he can go hang out with El Duque?

  3. Blue_n_Orange says:

man, i guess he should give Joe and Evan a call and thank them for awakening his bat ;)

  4. Nigel Tufnel says:

“Thank you for the vision Willie. I appreciate being healthy, sharp, rested and ready for a potential play-off run. Sorry for being surley about it when I went on the DL” -what Paulie didn’t say but should regarding his recent (and obvious) success both at and behind the plate.

MEMO to Omar: Sign the DUKE, sooner than later.
