"Thank you for the vision Willie. I appreciate being healthy, sharp, rested and ready for a potential play-off run. Sorry for being surley about it when I went on the DL" -what Paulie didn't say but should regarding his recent (and obvious) success both at and behind the plate.

MEMO to Omar: Sign the DUKE, sooner than later.

that's a bs story -- the mets said at the beginning of the season there would be no talks until the off-season. Why would that suddenly change in september?

i mean its not smart to resign an aging catcher in the middle of the season. but if its the best option on the table you do it after looking the market over.

i'll be perfectly honest, with the FA crop looking worse and worse and there being nothing in the farm, i could think of worse options than bring lo duca back AT a considerable discount.

its defintiely smart to not sign an aging catcher on the decline who is now having injury problems. objectively, all bs aside, you just dont do it.

all that said, i really hope we trade for saltalmachia and throw that dumb trade the braves made back in thier face even more.

Who knows if they will decide to negotiate with him or not. It looks like they decided to wait out the year and see how he did, which is a smart idea with a 35 YO catcher!

It does look like his little vacation did him a world of good. If he does come back, besides a little more rest by using th eback up more, he should probably schedule 1 or 2 little vacations on the DL. Maybe he can go hang out with El Duque?

I don't understand why the Mets decided - evidently before the season even began - that they would not bring him back next year. It doesn't appear that they have a prospect ready to replace him next year. And I don't see any free agents who would represent a clear upgrade.

And yet, we won't even talk to him about a contract: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/rumors/post/No-talks-between-Mets-and-Lo-Duca?urn=mlb,44464
