eMailbag: No Password, Why URI

by Matthew Cerrone on September 13th, 2007 at 1:12 pm

I have received several e-mails, similar to the following, over the last few days…

“In the section for posting comments below your name and e-mail is URI is that a typo for URL? Also what is the purpose of typing my name and e-mail?”

…initially, i, too, thought URI was an error by whomever initially designed the template i am using…however, as Joe points out in this post’s comment section, it stands for Uniform Resource Identifier, which you can learn more about here

…as for the e-mail address, if you had a question and wanted people to contact you, you can enter your e-mail, i guess…otherwise, it is not necessary…you may leave out all that information if you choose, and your comment will still post

“I’ve Tried several times to retrieve my new password in order to comment on the new site. I have received no replys or updates, its been several days waiting.”

…i am unable to help you with this…the comments are controlled by WordPress.com, so my suggestion would be to contact someone there…random people have made similar complaints to me, but since i have no control over how or who gets a password, there is not much i can do…however, if you stumble on an answer, please, please let me know so i can better advise other readers…best of luck…

Mr. Metster writes in the the following in the comments…

“I had the same problem. it turned out that my email provider was blocking all emails from WordPress as spam. So check your blocked messages, and the passwords might be there.”
