By the way, tomorrow is Mustache Night at Shea Stadium, during which the the first 20,000 fans will receive Mustache’s to honor Hernandez’s accomplishment this year at the American Mustache Institute, in which he won Best Sports Mustache of All-Time.
…which, by the way, should always be followed up with, “thanks to the readers of MetsBlog.com,” but i’ll let it slide…

As for the mustache thing, I like to think a certain miraculous reborn Jose Valentin has something to do with the mystique that currently surrounds Flushing facial hair fanatacism.
Grr. if im loggin in, why do I have to keep typing all my info? I think wordpress should remember it, no?
I have never typed in any of the other stuff. It just posts without that.
As far as Valentin, can’t you talk to him to update his blog?
We know and you know… thats all that matters =)
The winner was first announced to a crowd of 500 on Saturday night, Aug. 4th at AMI’s ‘Stache Bash 2007’ in St. Louis – a charity benefit supporting Challenger Baseball — a baseball league for children with disabilities. The candidacy for Hernandez was also buoyed by an appeal to voters by New York-area media including Metsblog.com.
– That was from the Press Release from AMI. Metsblog got its deserved recognition.
Go Mets!
And when’s the last time Phil Mushnick ever gave out a Tootsie Pop?
The American Mustache Institute salutes Keith for being a mustache trailblazer when so many men could not.
What a character. He has a certain noblesse oblige out there with the Tootsie Pops, like a benign Roman Emperor.
what does it say about us fans that we cared enough to get him this award, for which he was a write in vote…. but couldnt get enough votes to get him teh award for best defensive 1b of all time.
Oh come on, there was certainly some hanky-panky with that vote. It isn’t just that Keith lost, it’s that Wes whatshisname won, when nobody remembers him. Don’t blame us.
