He's on pace for 45 RBIs this year. I'm sure Gomez with his legs, defense, and bat can equal or come very close to the overall production of Alou for a fraction of the cost. G, R,& K praise him constantly. I'd love to have him back another year. We rip on Omar for signing him but who woulda thunk our insurance policies (milledge, chavez and even gomez) wouldve ALL gone down. I say you expect him to play 115 games and you cope with the rest. The free agent market for a quality corner OF is nothing to get excited about. I honestly would rather overpay for the 90+ games you get from Alou at this point, with an assortment of Endy/Marlon Anderson/Gomez filling in when he hits the DL, rather than just go into the season with Gomez and Endy as your guys. However, if Omar can find a trading partner for a corner OF, you can let Alou walk/retire. However, my preference would be for Minaya to focus on getting the bullpen back to 2006 form during the off-season, rather than wasting time and resources on a problem that just takes money to solve. Floyd has 768 ops with 6hr, 41 rbi, 75hits and 9 doubles. Alou has 916ops with 12hr, 36 rbi, 85 hits and 15 doubles.
