In an article for Fox Sports, Dayn Perry breaks down which teams might benefit from home field advantage in the post-season, and which teams might not.
Out of all the teams in contention, the Mets have the worst home record at 40-31.
Regarding the Mets, Perry writes:
“Certainly, they’d prefer to finish with the best record in the NL, but it’s no tragedy if they don’t (Mets hitters definitely wouldn’t mind a few more road games).”
The team that finishes with the best record in each league enjoys home-field advantage through the League Championship Series.
…i’m not sure that this is any consolation to me, but at least it’s one less thing to have to stress over should the diamondbacks surpass the mets’ record…all bets are off in the playoffs however…

Regardless of our record at home, or Game 7 last year, I want any deciding game in my home ballpark whenever I can get it.
agree 100%, throw out all stats from the regular season when youre in october that includes wins, loses, home/away splits
Absolutely want home field advantage. I don’t care what the stats say. The home team ALWAYS has the advantage, especially in the postseason.
Yup–you want that last AB. And, at least for this year and next, you want the earth-shattering noise of 53k+ Mets fans going absolutely nuts. Mets will obviously not be afraid to go on the road, but there are so many reasons you want to be home in the playoffs. It’s a no brainer.
If the Mets are playing the Dbacks, I want more games I AZ. The Mets OWN that place! ;)
if it comes to playing Arizona I’m a lot more concerned that baseball has set up a way for Webb to pitch 3 times rather than where game 7 is being played.
