According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Phillies LHP Cole Hamels will return to the mound tonight, following a month’s absence due to a left elbow strain.

Hamels was 5–1 with a 4.37 ERA in the eight starts before going on the disabled list, during which the Phillies were 6–2.

this isn’t getting any easier, is it

He is on a 60-65 pitch count for tonight.

Great…just what the Phils need, another shot in the arm.

  3. jimyager says:

    Bring it !!!!!!

  4. Alban says:

Please kick us harder while we are down.

  5. stickguy says:

Well, the good news is, he is on a pitch count (if that is true), so the Phils could be in the BP by the 4th inning. And since they aren’t facing the Mets, that is a good thing!

I did finally figure out why the Mets can’t hit the Phils pen. It is because they get some runs early, then shut the offense off. So, the Phils BP benefits!

You’re sure it’s not because they see that kind of pitching everyday in their bullpen, so mentally they think “wow, this guy’s good, because he’s like our guys, and we’re good” and can’t hit it?

who cares…honestly all we have to do is beat 2 of the worst teams in the league this is pathetic that we need to scoreboard watch while playing the freakin nationals….if we score early AND OFTEN!!!! not falling asleep after putting 4 runs on the board, we can easily win, maine is on the hill he can give us 6-7 strong innings, lets go lets just end this ourselves and leave the scoreboard watching to philly and SD.

Here’s the deal, win and it matters not what the Phils do!!

Re: Pitch Count–expected to throw 60-65 pitches

If you go to the Phillies website and click on probables, you see this:

    Scouting Report:
Phillies: The team’s ace returns after missing more than a month with a strained left elbow. The lefty is expected to be limited to 60-65 pitches in his first outing, which is still welcome for a rotation in need of his services.
Cardinals: Although Cards manager Tony La Russa wouldn’t announce a starter after Monday night’s game, Wellemeyer said he was told by pitching coach Dave Duncan he would make the start. The right-hander will probably just go a few innings before giving way to Kip Wells, who has been far more effective in a relief role than as a starter. One reason the Cards probably went with Wellemeyer is because of their 7-1 record in games he starts as opposed to a 6-20 mark when Wells starts.

Good for them. My hat’s off to them. They have heart, they have guts, they have determination, they have balls.

The frauds who serve as a pathetic excuse for a “baseball team” out there wearing Mets uniforms may want to take notice.

    • zen says:

they don’t have that much heart. this is the 4th year in a row that the phillies are in 2nd place. likely to miss the playoffs again.

the phillies have heart until the end of the season when they blow it

Who cares what the phils do. we need to tcb. i dont want to back into the playoffs and then get spanked. I want to get back on track and go into the playoffs scaring the crap out of any other team in our way. it has got to start tonight.

    • skillsets says:

The Mets couldn’t scare a 16 year old girls’ softball team. OK, maybe Lo Duca could, but that’s about it.

  12. SheaVendor says:

    Hamels gets LIT UP tonight!!!!!

  13. tinathemetsgrl says:

I hope he DOES get lit up. Sadly, the stupid Cardinals and Wellemeyer will get lit up. Phillies never stop scoring runs, ugh it’s frustrating. Let’s not pay much attention to them.

  14. Benny Blanco from da Bronx says:

    Ok, big deal? Who cares?
4 of thier other starters aren’t any good.
