The Lineup

The Pitchers

  1. Darryl Strawberry says:

    Please win!!!!!!!!

  2. letsgomets says:

why did the cardinals have to make that great comeback and then lose instead of just getting blown out or coming back all the way..it broke my heart a little bit more

  3. DWright is King says:

anybody else think that magic number should come off the site for a couple of days…I think it’s bad luck…

    • Jay says:

Yes seriously, this is obviously going to come to the end of the season so having a magic number is a bit silly.

  4. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

does anyone else wish Matt hadn’t mentioned that Maine hasnt given up a run to the nats in his 12IP against them?

  5. MetalMet says:

How about a break out game for Endy?

  6. 4dykstra4 says:

Let’s Go Mets! Let’s Go Mets! Let’s Go Mets!

  7. MetsSox says:

I think this goes w/o saying that this is one of the biggest games of the year…METS HAVE TO WIN TONIGHT! Have to…and I just hate everything about the Cardinals…
last year, plenty of titles, their alcoholic manager, albert “the complainer” pujols, last year, looper,HGH,last year, 83 wins, fans are extremely quiet during games, wainwright, and then last night…down 11 runs and you cant complete the comeback! come on CARDINALS!
Only good thing they ever do was not show up for the 2004 World Series. GO GET EM MAINE! LETS GET THINGS GOING TONIGHT!!!!!

  8. DWright is King says:

Ok guys..tonight is the beginning…the beginning of the Metropolitans’ road to victory!!!

  9. DWright is King says:

besides, all these guys needed to do was pop in the video from last night’s game and the previous night and I’m sure they will never ever repeat mistakes like that!

  10. letsgomets says:

i hope the little leaguers dont come to play today. these past 2 games have been disgusting to watch and they should be embarrassed but i think they’ll turn it around tonight.

    lets go mets

  11. MetsMachine says:

“Tonight is the night we start clicking on all cilinders again. I just feel it!”

Here’s the problem. Im getting the sense some of you are ready to party like its 1999 if the Mets win this game.

It’s the freakin Nationals. They should win by 15 runs. And the damage has already been done. This bullpen is NOT turning it around this season. They havn’t for 4 months. It’s just not that good. So the Mets may score some runs, and take some W’s.
But lets keep something in perspective, they are still streaky, their bullpen still stinks, and this is a team they should dumptruck.

I think the team will make the post season, but some of you need to lower the expectations bar a little bit. Your acting as if the Mets are the Anaheim Angels, who are just slumping.

This is who the Mets are…..MEDICORE.

    • SodaPopinski says:

alright dude, we get it…you come on here every single night and say the same stuff…give it a rest for crying out loud

everyone knows the bullpen blows…we’ve pulled our hair out over it for months now. time to just let it play out…i may not always like what i see, but i’ll be cheering no matter what

if you’re so obsessed with how bad this team is, then don’t watch…either way, just quit yer bitching

      LETS GO METS!

    • cb32 says:

Well they are the best mediocre team in the NL East by 2.5 games still.

    • jimyager says:

Thats what I like. Bat around in the first. Lets keep it up and WIN !!!!!

  12. Wyoming Met says:

Lets go Mets, that is all I can say.

  13. toomanyuniforms says:

Enough with “believing” and “hoping” and “crossing fingers” (I mean, even though that’s all we as fans can really do.) This thread seems like it was written by a bunch of Cub fans. Time to man up and play good baseball. If they can’t do that, they don’t deserve to win. I believe they can.

  14. letsgomets says:

    1-0

  15. DWright is King says:

ok this is my last supersticious comment I’ll make…I promise. how about Ricke Peterson shaving his mullet??

  16. Wyoming Met says:

Good start. Keep it going. The pen will need at least 8-10 runs to preserve the win.

  17. letsgomets says:

1st grand slam would be nice here

  18. Teufel Shuffle says:

    Step on their necks, Paulie.

  19. letsgomets says:

    3-0

  20. grikke says:

Who would have thought that Maine would be up hitting before he has thrown a single pitch?

  21. Nightlife says:

    Great start!

    Lets go Maine!

  22. toomanyuniforms says:

Not a bad start. No complacency, though. Same approach every inning.

  23. Wyoming Met says:

Awesome start. Now, lets keep it and kick the crap out of the Nats. And, also, I hope Hamels goes 1 2/3 and gives up 5-7 runs.

  24. Luckbox says:

The Nats have the Mets just where they want them… 4-0.

  25. toomanyuniforms says:

Another chance to pummel them. . . .

  26. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

nows the test of whether or not the meeting worked bc they got to 4-0 yesterday lets see how they react to it this time.

  27. Nightlife says:

Man, what is up with the Nats broadcast. I mean, yeah sure, the announcers are bad, but the production of the broadcast is horrible. They drown out all of the crowd noise and sounds on the field, so when the announcers are talking its just silence. Really irritating. I think I’ll just put on the radio broadcast and work on my Pro Evo Soccer team.

  28. MetsMachine says:

I have a great idea. If any Mets are in the HR Derby next year….we can call back rag arm Lawrence to pitch.

I gaurantee you we shatter the record.

  29. upstatemet says:

Come on Maine let’s not give it backl

  30. newport beach mets fan says:

this is a very familiar scenario. im not sure that i can watch the scoreboard or the rest of the game cause of fear that i may get so upset that i may launch my laptop.. i just know that Maine or the bully is going to give back this #$$%$ lead….

  31. Navy_Mets says:

That’s the Maine we know! Time for more runs boys!

  32. letsgomets says:

    5-1

  33. Navy_Mets says:

That look just like last night’s shot!

  34. grikke says:

I thought Green said that he was going to stop hitting for power.

  35. newport beach mets fan says:

That’s gonna leave a nice black and blue tomorrow

  36. Navy_Mets says:

Does anyone remember who it was the stole 2nd last night when it was 10-4…right before their 2 run HR?

  37. Mister Koo says:

Hope they save some of this offense tomorrow for Pelfrey.

  38. Navy_Mets says:

Let’s go Jose, start us off by putting the pressure right back on.

  39. newport beach mets fan says:

Wow, i didnt think there was any way he’d get Jose on that ground ball…

  40. metsforever says:

Was Jose running? He never gets caught like that.

  41. metsforever says:

They don’t hit this guy very well. They make this guy into Cy Young

  42. Wyoming Met says:

Can the Nats announcers be any more bias? Never heard such homers in my life

    • newport beach mets fan says:

Seriously, these guys are unbelievable homers… they don’t stop all game long….i thought that it was just me.

      • D.J. Short says:

You aren’t alone. The Nats can do no wrong according to them. I’ve never heard them be critical of the team, and I watch a lot of Nats telecasts, sadly.

  43. newport beach mets fan says:

Wright is the man… That’s it David.. Always hustling!

  44. Navy_Mets says:

    David with extreme hustle

  45. stickguy says:

Lets just not see the same old script. Get all the runs early, then shut the offense down.

Of course, if you get into the pen by the 4th inning, and the worst team in the league for scoring runs has to get at lesat 6, you don’t deserve to be in the playoffs if they beat you.

Now, get the runs flowing. Double digits tonight and tomorrow!

  46. newport beach mets fan says:

Is it just me or is Ronnie Belliard really annoying?

  47. newport beach mets fan says:

WILL SOMEONE TELL THE NATS ANNOUNCERS TO SHUT UP.. WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT

  48. newport beach mets fan says:

    COME ON JOHNNY… DON’T ##$ AROUND WITH 2 OUTS….

  49. stickguy says:

Maines killing me. Looks like he wants to keep them in the game, and make sure he burns out early so they have to get into the en.

He needs a couple of quick, 1-2-3 innings with a low pitch count to get through 7. Take one for the team!

And how often do they get the first 2 outs, then end up giving up runs? Way too common it seems. WOnder if any of the stat wonks can track that?

  50. upstatemet says:

    Maines getting annoying too

  51. newport beach mets fan says:

WHAT IS UP WITH THIS GUY? HE TENDS TO LET UP WHEN HE HAS 2 OUTS… HE LOSES FOCUS…

  52. Darryl Strawberry says:

    Here we go again.

  53. metsforever says:

What is it with these pitchers and two outs? They can’t get anybody out in those situations. That is on Peterson. We are screwed again. You can see it coming.

  54. newport beach mets fan says:

    HOLY COW THAT STAYED IN!!!

  55. stickguy says:

This is pathetic. They are going to be into the pen by the 5th again, and we know how that goes. At least 10 runs tonight for the nats.

2 outs, no one on, and they end up with runs.

Ridiculous. None of these guys can seal the deal. Just power over them. Blow some stirkes by.

Is it Peterson that encourages the endless nibbling?

  56. Mister Koo says:

    Thank god.

  57. Navy_Mets says:

Out of the inning but at what expense, another run, 20+ pitches…guys gotta be getting nervous again

  58. upstatemet says:

Is any of our pitching really trustworthy Geeeeeeezzzz

  59. newport beach mets fan says:

MAINE NEEDS TO SHAKE HIMSELF…. I THOUGHT FOR SURE THAT WAS GONE… MAN, I WAS GETTING READY TO RUN OUTSIDE AND SCREAM…

  60. letsgomets says:

o god i thought that was gone lol

  61. metsforever says:

I may need my wife to take the remote away. The TV is in grave danger.

    • newport beach mets fan says:

my girlfriend won’t even talk to me when i have the Mets game on. i think that she needs to go into therapy after this season

  62. Mister Koo says:

Maine’s gotta just throw strikes. There is absolutely no reason to walk Robert Freaking Fick.

  63. Navy_Mets says:

Really these walks are getting just plain silly…let them hit it the damn thing, but then again we haven’t played much defense to encourage that type of thinking

  64. miker94 says:

Are you kidding me, another 2 out and no one on base meltdown? Come on already, just one more out and we’re out of the inning, and we give up a hit, a walk and another hit, then almost a homerun to some f_ ing kid. Goddamnit already, enough is enough! We BETTER get some more runs here, cuz you KNOW damn well that our pen will blow it for sure!

  65. Navy_Mets says:

but it could be worse, look what the Cards are doing

  66. Krusty The Klown says:

    seeeen this before

  67. metsforever says:

Another random minor league pitcher? Any chance we can hit this guy? We haven’t yet this year. Phils ahead already. Score more guys. This pen will need it

  68. newport beach mets fan says:

    Green looked safe!

  69. metsforever says:

Not this. The only guy on the team who hits at all

  70. Krusty The Klown says:

    wowwwwwwwwwwwwwww

  71. newport beach mets fan says:

No. we need Alou… He can’t be hurt!… oh f##$$!!!!! This sucks!!!

  72. stickguy says:

Man, gameday showed that red dot way over the fence! I assume Moises brought it back?

But look at the bright side. They made it through 4 innings without an error!

Phillies are winning again, but that is subject to change.

Once thing from yesterday. Manual took the top 3 guys in the pen and shut them down for the day (so did WIllie, but not for the same reason!). Almost cost them, but they got the win, and the suposed good guys got a break.

  73. metsforever says:

    Omar,

This is what happens when we only sign guys with AARP cards. Live it and Learn it.

  74. DWright is King says:

ok wuts goin on with alou

  75. MetsMachine says:

haha this team cant get out of its own way.

next time Omar will learn not to sign grandpa’s.

Alou will be out for a week.

5-1, 5-2, 5-3…hopefully the amazing Mets can hang on to this nailbite vs a very tough Nats team.

  76. Wayneo says:

Who would of thought all of these old guys would keep getting hurt?

  77. Krusty The Klown says:

cant wait for the “day to day” then 10 days pass by and they announce he’ll miss
    the playoffs

  78. upstatemet says:

team full of old guys and there droping like flies

  79. stickguy says:

I am guessing ALou hurt himslef going into 2nd?

Man, this race is going to be a war of attrition. God only knows who will be on the PS roster if they manage to hang on and make it!

  80. letsgomets says:

    6-3

alou look likes he could have tweaked his hip flexor possibly

    • stickguy says:

give him a cortisone shot or 2 and get his bones back out there.

He already said he plans to retire, so what is he saving himself for?

  81. stickguy says:

Hey, Paulito Wlanuts came through! He needs to call more meetings!

  82. metsforever says:

One thing about LaDuca, he gives a damn. According to the Fan boys, there is no thought to keep him. They should. He has some fire about him, not the Yankee briefcase to work business attitude.

  83. Mister Koo says:

Alou didn’t look like he was hurting too bad. He walked off no problem and didn’t seem like he was in pain. Probably just a precaution.

  84. letsgomets says:

    7-3

  85. upstatemet says:

boy if hes out Endy and Lastings will play much more. Remember Alou was never around in the post

  86. MetsMachine says:

I cant remember his name, but last night someone made fun of me on here for using the word Politics associating it with baseball.

He made a war comment…as if politics only apply in that arena.
    Yeesh…somebody missed some PolySci classes.

Anyway, based on Greens contact the last few weeks, and his MUCH improved 1st base defense…..here is POLITICS IN ACTION, with the Mets.

He keeps this up…he’s earned the spot at 1st. He makes more contact than Delgado, and is a better fielder….which gives the Mets a better chance to win. Isn’t that what its all about?

But you know Delgado will be slotted right in that 5 spot, creating the blackhole we all know and love.

Green starts at 1st come playoffs. Not Delgado.

  87. Navy_Mets says:

    I gotta know…is that REALLY super slo-mo?

  88. newport beach mets fan says:

Endy with 3 hits… and i hear some Mets fans in the crowd!!! Bout freaking time…. AWESOME… WE’RE NOT GIVING IN TONIGHT…!!!

  89. metsforever says:

7 probably isn’t enough. Keep going guys. It will probably take 9 tonight minimum.

  90. metsforever says:

Reyes has that pop up swing going again.

  91. MetsMachine says:

Reyes with a pop up? Havn’t seen that in a while!

  92. newport beach mets fan says:

DOES ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE THINK THAT JOSE MAY NEED A DAY OFF… THIS GUY IS JUST STRUGGLING OUT THERE.. HE LOOKS LIKE HE’S JUST TRYING TO HARD..

    • letsgomets says:

we already tried a day off and it didnt help. i dont think it will do good. he needs to go back to the basics and get a level swing back

    • MetsMachine says:

He had 2 days off a week ago. It has nothing to do with days off. Again…here goes the mets fan attributing crap play to days off.

Reyes just isn’t that great. He’s good, but he’s no Rollins.

  93. Navy_Mets says:

    So was Alou’s injury a quad/hammy/etc? I refuse to un-mute the National’s telecast

  94. Krusty The Klown says:

maine is acting like a perez

  95. ChiliGTC says:

    Here we go again!

  96. Mister Koo says:

    St Louis tied Philly 1-1

  97. letsgomets says:

    1-1 cards philthies

  98. metsforever says:

This doesn’t feel right. My gut tells me.

  99. Mister Koo says:

    2-1 cards

  100. metsforever says:

    Here we go.

  101. MetsMachine says:

I hope no one here is impressed with 4 ER in 5 in vs the worst offense in baseball.

Thanks John Maine….man its gonna be a quick October vs good competition.

  102. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

Well, were lucky the ump blew that strike 3 call on Zimmerman. Maine’s gotta settle down here.

  103. Krusty The Klown says:

maine and perez are too inconsistent to ever be considered aces. but i’d still love them to be 3-4 for the rotation for years to come

    • jose--jose-jose-jose says:

I see what u mean but they are also both pretty young in the grand scheme of things. This year? Yea I’d say their 3 and 4 guys but I think with thier talent they can be great 2 starters in a year or two.

  104. metsforever says:

He is not getting through this inning and the pen will have to come in. God help us.

  105. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

Lets see how you guys can blame this inning on willie…

  106. metsforever says:

The Mutts will be losing before the 6th.

  107. Krusty The Klown says:

    oh boy…..

  108. MetsMachine says:

5 runs vs the Nationals. This pitching staff top to bottom is GAAAAAAAAAAARBAGE.

Can you imagine these guys pitching against AL big boppers?

    Talk about a bloodbath.

  109. Mister Koo says:

    Double play. Please.

  110. Navy_Mets says:

    walks are KILLING US

  111. Nightlife says:

    This game is killing me.

Get someone up in the pen, jesus.

  112. Darryl Strawberry says:

Unbelievable, oh wait a minute totally believable. One way or another something will fail and tonight it’s the starting pitching. Another loss.

  113. metsforever says:

    It’s almost funny

  114. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

    oh crap

  115. dwrightisgod says:

maine u bum, wtf, wake up

  116. Krusty The Klown says:

    JOSE LIMA!

  117. upstatemet says:

    Maine has terrible location

  118. icedrake523 says:

    Deja vu all over again.

  119. MetsMachine says:

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.

    Nice job John Maine.

I dare someone to tell me Im negative and out of line.

Cmon Navy mets…..are you happy now?

THIS TEAM HAS LET UP 20 RUNS IN LESS THAN 2 GAMES TO THE NATIONALS……PATHETIC.

  120. Nightlife says:

    Kill me.

    Why was Maine not pulled?

  121. Darryl Strawberry says:

Belliard! There’s the dagger. The season is officially over. I want to puke.

  122. Navy_Mets says:

    wow

  123. letsgomets says:

that is disgusting. absolutely pitiful. we do NOT deserve to be in the playoffs if we are gonna play like this

  124. toomanyuniforms says:

    John Maine sucks.

Game is not over. MAN UP.

  125. Steve.P says:

HOLY $H!T! WHY WHY WHY WHY!?!?!?!?!?!?

  126. MetsMachine says:

    Wheels are off….

I hope we lose. Gut the entire team this winter.

    • jose--jose-jose-jose says:

      “I hope we lose.”

wtf dude? I mean are you stupid. I understand not believeing in the team but hoping we lose… I just dont get it.

  127. metsforever says:

Drill somebody or something. This is ridiculous.

  128. letsgomets31 says:

I’ve seen this movie one 2 many times…

  129. gipper913 says:

    This is out of hand.

    BYE Willie!!! Good riddance!

  130. Nightlife says:

I mean, I know the pen has looked like crap lately but some of that has been because of the d.

  131. beltran and the mets says:

    Incredible

  132. Krusty The Klown says:

this is sorta funny, not really but kinda

    • MetsMachine says:

haha its funny, you can laugh.

Just think about the Nationals as the worst offensive team in the bigs crushing the Mets….20 runs and counting.

Then think of the Phils pitching…..worst in the bigs, and the Mets can’t touch them.

Mets arent a playoff team. Theyre just in this thing, bc the league is trash.

  133. Nightlife says:

    A little late there Willie.

  134. metschamps says:

What a disaster. The bottom is literally falling out. No way to put a rosey spin on this.

  135. toomanyuniforms says:

This dumbass Nats’ announcer is making me ill with his homer antics. . . . What an amateurish buffoon.

That said, the Mets are giving him plenty to yak about.

  136. Mister Koo says:

A comeback win here would do wonders. Schoeneweis needs to keep this within 1.

    • Nightlife says:

      True.

Thank god the offense has been good tonight, hopefully they come back and respond after this.

  137. letsgomets31 says:

    Speechless!

  138. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

wow im completely speechless, its not even worth saying anything we cant do anything right we probably couldnt beat a hs team right now

  139. letsgomets says:

why wouldnt willie give him the hook especially when he started to lose concentration last inning. has he not watched when maine pitches this year? he can be great for 4-5 innings and then just let it all go…shouldnt willie be aware of that?

  140. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

all i know is the nats better hit like this against the phils

    • Nightlife says:

Teams with nothing to play for can always be dangerous, a lot easier for them to relax and play. Hopefully Acta manages like this against the Phils too.

  141. Steve.P says:

Comeback! Comeback! Comeback! Comeback! Comeback! Comeback! Comeback! Comeback! Comeback! Comeback! Comeback! Comeback! Comeback! Comeback! Comeback! Comeback! Comeback!

  142. toomanyuniforms says:

Take the magic number down, Matt. If they don’t win this one, we can officially pack it in.

    • ChiliGTC says:

agreed….take down the magic number. this team makes me sick. Matt was talking earlier about why he likes baseball b/c of the emotions involved, but you know what, the Mets consistently dissappoint…what a joke!

  143. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

And now they are playing everyone’s favorite song….

    Sweet Caroline.

    uugh

  144. beltran and the mets says:

Is there anyway to purge the yankee fans from this site. Jeez, you are pathetic.

    • beltran and the mets says:

      obviously meant for YankeesMachine

    • jose--jose-jose-jose says:

I’m glad someone finally asked that question. Is there?

    • toomanyuniforms says:

That’s right, a “real” Mets’ fan knows that this team is PLAYING GREAT!!!!! Go team!!!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

This is an abomination, and Met fans shouldn’t stand for it.

  145. upstatemet says:

Maine doesnt look like an Allstar anymore…………….stick a fork in him

  146. letsgomets31 says:

Here comes 3 more runs..11-7 Nats

  147. MetsMachine says:

Guys, this is tough competition. We can scratch back at this.

I know were underdogs but we can do it!

  148. Krusty The Klown says:

COME ON DUDES LETS GO METS LETS GO METS YA GOTTA BELIEVE! next inning castillo will geta single, then wright hits a double 1 run scores, beltran rips a hr 2 runs score, milledge gets an infield single THEN BOOOM WE GONAN WIN!

  149. letsgomets says:

nice play by castillo………lets get to hitting

  150. Navy_Mets says:

No doubt about it, there will be a fight tonight

  151. metsforever says:

Did I say it would take at least 9? Looks like I am off. Maybe 13?

  152. Navy_Mets says:

Oh my God, double plays do exist!

  153. NY Cuban says:

Maine sucks, but you wait until he gives up 8? Even Manny Acta with nothing to play for went to his ‘pen after his starter gave up 3. This is AWFUL!!! Thank you Luis Castillo. How sad is it that Schoeneweis is the anchor of this pen.

    • jose--jose-jose-jose says:

Thats because Hanrahan sucks. Maine has shown in the past that he is a good pitcher and If willie took him out after he gave up 3 runs everyone would be yelling at him for going to the bullpen way too early and not sticking with our starter.

      I mean, am I wrong?

  154. Darth Hernandez says:

Holy Baby Jesus,, wtf just happened

  155. Mister Koo says:

This is an important inning. Cannot go out 1-2-3 here.

  156. beltransmole says:

We still liking Willie? Jesus. This is ridiculous.

    • mets227 says:

Did Willie make the pitch to Belliard?

      • beltransmole says:

Somehow this team still can’t get up for a game against the Nats. The Mets have given up 30 runs in 3 games and will ultimately lose the division. For that I blame the manager. The pitch to Belliard was just the tip of the iceberg.

    • metschamps says:

Welcome back Beltransmole. That name is still cracking me up !!!!!

  157. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

look if we go back and score this inning the momentum comes back, its 1 freakin run we got 7 so far lets go offense, pitching aint gonna win for us

  158. Darryl Strawberry says:

There will be no comeback. I’ve stopped being positive too long ago. This offense will now shut right down.

  159. MetsMachine says:

30 runs and counting that the Mets staff has let up in less than 3 games.

Maybe accusable with the Phils….certainly not the Nats.

  160. gipper913 says:

I just threw up in my mouth. No BS.

    Willie “Brains” Randolph must go.

  161. metties says:

its only the 5th inning and the bats are doing fine, that being said why can we not put humber in here at nothing less than to see him for more than the 3 innings he has put in so far since being up and to give the rest of the miserable pen a few more innings off so this way maybe we can get a lead back so they dont jsut blow the game all together this early?? i mean why is humber not even a choice right now

  162. letsgomets31 says:

We MUST pull out and win this game..It’s a MUST..I’ll be listening to the FAN tonite. I’m sure all of NY will be calling in wanting some heads to roll

  163. DjDeF says:

If we win this game it could be something that catapults this team. If we lose we will continue to sink

  164. Slimting says:

I feel sick to my stomach. jesus christ….

  165. Krusty The Klown says:

come on if they can chant for benny agbayani! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdkWuTNvpBA&mode=related&search= we can win!

  166. NY Cuban says:

    FI-RE WIL-LIE! FI-RE WIL-LIE! FI-RE WIL-LIE! FI-RE WIL-LIE! FI-RE WIL-LIE! FI-RE WIL-LIE!

Swept by Manny Acta in the middle of a pennant race!

  167. metsforever says:

Down 1-2-3. Take it to the bank.

This team doesn’t have the balls to come back

  168. DWright is King says:

can someone pls give me a quick summary of what happened in the fifth…thanks

  169. icedrake523 says:

If any team would be the first to be 7 games up in the division with 17 left to play and end up losing the division and missing the playoffs, it’d be this team.

  170. DjDeF says:

Come on David put this team on your shoulders

  171. Steve.P says:

I dislike some of Willie’s moves as the next foaming-at-the-mouth fan, but this implosion is on Maine and Jacket: he came to the mound, obviously questioned John, and allowed him to proceed…

We can make a comeback, though.

    • toomanyuniforms says:

It’s on Maine. Obviously, what he did against Hudson was a fluke. We needed him to be a stopper again, and he left a smoldering pile on the mound, instead.

  172. Krusty The Klown says:

    come on CB!

  173. letsgomets says:

no no gary….the mets still need to be smacked in the face by someone

  174. letsgomets31 says:

    Any word on Moises?

  175. DjDeF says:

    Tight Quad for Moises

  176. Krusty The Klown says:

    game over

  177. toomanyuniforms says:

    Beltran is clutch

    • letsgomets says:

o yeah and mr wright is real clutch himself there

      • toomanyuniforms says:

At least Wright put the bat on the ball. That should merit him the captain’s “C” on this team.

        • letsgomets says:

what the hell is the difference between a fly out and a strike out in that situation?

        • toomanyuniforms says:

Are you watching, or just following on Gameday? He crushed that ball. Hit it right at Kearns.

        • letsgomets says:

im watching…but isnt an out and out? i still dont see how a hard hit ball…for an out…is any more clutch than a strikeout. if there were someone on base…it would be different, but no one was on…he was probably trying for a homerun to get a run back, and who can blame him? if he makes contact there its gone, it just so happens that he missed it

        • toomanyuniforms says:

          Sarcasm.

    • metties says:

offense needs atleast 8 more runs… pen will allow 6 no doubt.. who will it be from the pen that allows a big inning this game?

    • Darryl Strawberry says:

Mets will be shut out for the rest of this game. I wish it wasn’t the case, but this team is destined to choke.

    • jose--jose-jose-jose says:

He has actually been very clutch in the first two games of this series and he almost jumpstarted a huge rally with that 3 run homer in that final game vs the phillies.

      • toomanyuniforms says:

Is that after he struck out with the bases loaded to end an inning in the previous game? Yeah, I guess it was.

        • letsgomets says:

whatever…hes come up clutch in situations and he hasnt….but what the hell does him striking out and wright flying out have anything to do with beltran not being clutch and wright being more clutch then him because he made contact. who, would u say, on this time is clutch?

        • toomanyuniforms says:

It doesn’t. NO ONE has been clutch tonight.

        • jose--jose-jose-jose says:

“Is that after he struck out with the bases loaded to end an inning in the previous game? Yeah, I guess it was.”

Do you live in your own negative fantasy world? First of all, there were two on and two out in the bottom on the ninth. Second of all he made contact and missed the sweet spot by like a centimiter and flew out to end the game.

  178. DjDeF says:

Who wants to bet that St. Louis blows the game?

  179. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

im not even joking im physically sick right now i feel like im going to throw up

  180. miker94 says:

am i the only one here who is actually feeling violent? I mean i’m so angry that I want to smash something, but my wife would kill me. although, the way i feel now, that wouldn’t be so bad.

    • WrightMVP says:

This is absolutely GROSS. The only thing that I believe in right now is that the mets are going to be watching the playoffs. They sure are doing a wonderful job handing it over to the phillies!

  181. Nightlife says:

We can take some solace that Hamels is probably going to be out of the game by the 4th and the Cards are up 3-1 now.

    • letsgomets says:

no we cant. we cant be worried about the phils right now. we need to worry about the mets. the phils are going to do what they are going to do, if the mets continue to play like this it wont matter. any bets that the braves get back in the race? lol just playing…. right?

    • metties says:

why is mota up!!!! where is humber or anyone other than mota for that matter i mean seriously

  182. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

you are not, if i was still in college in some dorm thered be roughly 8 holes in the wall

  183. Krusty The Klown says:

going to shoot peoples heads off in call of duty if they dont score in the 7th

  184. NY Cuban says:

    WHERE IS PHIL HUMBER?!?

  185. DjDeF says:

I think I may have broken my mouse already

  186. kendychavez says:

don’t worry guys, mota is warming

  187. Krusty The Klown says:

YES MOTA TIME! idk which is worse lima time or mota time

  188. letsgomets31 says:

What if we get swept? What will it mean? Will it mean anything to the Mets? To many questions

  189. Navy_Mets says:

The sad thing about this whole deal is that almost of all of us were just waiting around for it to happen, and so were the players

    • Hit The Weights Zeile says:

it would be hard for me to argue that unfortunately, i almost forgot what its like to win a game

  190. metsforever says:

    Oh boy,

It’s almost MOTA time. IF that doesn’t give you confidence, what does?

  191. letsgomets31 says:

Mota is warming up..I’m going to bed..C-ya to-morrow

  192. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

    …..

  193. metties says:

so again it will be the usual suspects tonite…show, mota, heilman, etc etc but no need to use humber…as im typing we go down two good stuff

  194. MetsMachine says:

hahahahahah this Mets pen is awesome!!

what a slugger that guy is. 1st of the year bwahahaha

  195. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

maybe maine figures, since im not gonna be in the post season rotation, ill make sure we dont make the playoffs

  196. Alban says:

    The room is spinning…

  197. metsforever says:

That is just embarrassing. Jimenez totally sucks.

  198. NY Cuban says:

Gary Cohen is echoing all our thoughts? Where is Humber? And there goes another HR. 9-7. Game over. Season Over. Does anyone trust Pelfrey tomorrow?

  199. kendychavez says:

    go cardinals.

  200. toomanyuniforms says:

Did you all see that? D’Angelo Jimenez.

    Oh. My.

This is dreadful. These wusses don’t deserve paychecks. Miserable.

    • WrightMVP says:

Un F’n believable! Willie end your LOVE AFFAIR with Mota you moron. I think that willie is trying to lose his job.

Just end this misery already, next sunday cannot come soon enough. I feel like I am in a torture chamber!

  201. zeekster says:

    this is tragic

there have been signs of this for months now

(hich i had mentioned at another mets fan sight and got banned for it)

but tragic that it has actually happening

i was afraid of this but hoping these guys would prove me wrong

  202. MetsMachine says:

21 runs for the Nats…..if that doesn’t tell you somethin, I dont know what does.

  203. beltransmole says:

Season over. Good night Mets. Goodnight Willie.

  204. upstatemet says:

Blowenweis and the rest of this staff is patheiic

  205. NY Cuban says:

Where is the shot of Omar today?

  206. mbeli says:

I feel my dinner coming back up….Are you serious this is the Nationals if we can’t beat them we don’t deserve the division

  207. letsgomets says:

o no the anchor of our bullpen is being pulled down with the rest of them. come on show

  208. Navy_Mets says:

He is batting .224 with 1HR WTF is going on here?

  209. MetsMachine says:

Man Show is really foolin these guys!!

  210. Alban says:

Something’s wrong…. that hit didn’t go out of the park. Someone check on the Show.

  211. metsforever says:

    Bye Bye Willie.

You can’t fire the players and the Wilpons won’t dump Omar. They have to do something.

Is it worth this? Not really. But that is the light at the end. This is starting to look like BP again.

    MOTA TIME

  212. icedrake523 says:

They should change this year’s motto to “Your season has gone”

    • Hit The Weights Zeile says:

you know what its sad but i actually laughed at that bc i imagined the guy on the promo on tv saying it and it was pretty funny so kudos to you for putting a smile on my face, first one all day.

  213. NY Cuban says:

Will Willie give the we’re still in 1st speech in the post game?

  214. Darth Hernandez says:

I DON’T THINK LO DUCA IS CALLING THE PITCHES.. SEEMS LIKE SNY CUTS BACK TO HIM RIGHT AFTER HE GETS THE SIGNAL FROM THE DUGOUT… ANYONE ELSE NOTICE THIS????

    • upstatemet says:

Rick Petersons probably calling them. He’s annoying me to Take that jacket off and get a hair cut Rick. Wheres Kazmir when you need him.

  215. mrosey says:

Guys, theres no point in crying over spilled milk. They suck so let’s just thank Matt and the boys for a great season of managing the blog and stop defacing it with all our negative comments..Should they make the playoffs, they don’t deserve it and will probably fall out quickly and quietly so what’s the point. See you guys next season.

  216. Navy_Mets says:

Well the only thing left to do is plunk Belliard when he gets up again. I mean you have to right?

  217. ibleedblueandorange says:

    …because I slit my wrists.

  218. metties says:

oh god here it is everyone if u dont already think the game is over just take notice to who is coming in…thats right u see it right its mota, not to be mistaken by humber..actually has anyone seen humber he is on the team right??

  219. toomanyuniforms says:

OK, folks. This is not good for my blood pressure or sanity. I’m just going to pretend the season starts tomorrow, and we’re not on the cusp of a historic choke job. No more negativity. It’s only stating the obvious.

    • ibleedblueandorange says:

Buddy, we’re not on the “cusp of a historic choke job”…we’re smack in the middle of it.

      • toomanyuniforms says:

We’ll have plenty of time to discuss when a joke job begins, ends, or hits its apogee when the Phillies are opening up the NLDS.

      • jimyager says:

stick a fork in us we are done!!! WTF !!! The big meeting really helped alot. IF we get to the playoffs and thats a big IF how far can we get if we cant beat a last place team like the Nats? METS SUCK, METS SUCK, METS SUCK. Sweept by the Phillies and sweept by the Nats,( we will be when Pelfry blows it again) game over. I wish I could say it was a good season. See ya next year.

  220. NY Cuban says:

Well, the refund on the NLCS tickets will help pay for some nice X-Mas gifts.

    • Steve.P says:

I’m looking forward to spring training and all the trades Omar makes. He’ll have a ton of pressure to spend some coin on arms and outfielders.

    • ChiliGTC says:

Mets don’t refund money….they just apply money less service charge to 2008 tickets….at this rate, Mets may not win again!

  221. zeekster says:

i have jokingly called this team the Mañana Mets cuz of the prevailing attitude that willie inspires

they should have been playing like there is no tomorrow for months now

instead we get willie’s yankee entitlement attitude

and we see where that has gotten the yanks since 2000

  222. coreynyc says:

It’s all good, here comes Mota.

  223. letsgomets says:

hahahah “your season has gone” hahahah someone definitely needs to make a sign of that and bring it to the next home game hahah i guarantee it gets on sny lol

  224. Raisin316 says:

Willie has the…someone just stole my smile look..Oh wait…he has the personality of a baseball.

  225. NY Cuban says:

Here’s comes Mota… this is like a horror B-movie. We all know what is gonna happen, it has a boring plot, but we all have to watch.

  226. gomets6091 says:

They’ve given up at least a run in 4 consecutive innings each of the last 3 games, and have given up runs in 5 consecutive innings tonight and 2 nights ago. Each of those games included at least one 4-run inning, with tonights and 2 nights ago including a 5 run innings, and last night involving two 4-run innings. Their offense hasn’t been great, but the blame for this recent stretch lies primarily with the pitching staff: both starters and relievers. Ironically, in the beginning of the season, everyone said it was gonna be the pitching that would torpedo the Mets season…maybe they were right, it just didn’t manifest till 145 games into the season.

Oh well, still gotta believe. Phils are losing, and the Mets can still easily come back and win this thing. Just gotta go out and do it.

  227. metsforever says:

How far will Zimmerman hit this one?

  228. Raisin316 says:

Time to just hit someone and brawl.

  229. metsforever says:

At least Show is pissed. About time somebody is

  230. NY Cuban says:

I just gained respect for Schoe for throwing that glove. At least he cares. He sucks, but he cares.

  231. Navy_Mets says:

We blew not ONE not TWO but THREE 4 run leads

  232. Raisin316 says:

Its time for Delgado to man up and get back in the lineup.

  233. WrightMVP says:

Are you that clueless Willie. WTF is wrong with you!

  234. Krusty The Klown says:

look for no alou, delgado (obv) and a start from pelfrey tomorow, cuz ya know its just another game

  235. zeekster says:

the parade of trusted vets just keeps on coming out of the bullpen

  236. ibleedblueandorange says:

I really hate how this team shows no heart whatsoever. When they blow a lead they just roll over and die…nothing more, nothing less. It’s incredibly boring to watch.

This is the main difference between this season and last: when last year’s team was down by two runs, I felt like they could come back. This season…not so much.

  237. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

you know who i feel bad for, gary cohen, poor guy loves the mets just as much if not more than anyone of us and not only has to watch every second of this garbage but he has to hold in any cursing screaming or violent actions as a result of these games

  238. Jay says:

    are we having fun yet?

  239. stickguy says:

Talk about a train wreck. A week ago, this was a well poiled winning machine, and now I don’t think they will win another game all year! Has any team ever finished a season 0-18?

I have no way to check, but I bet the Nats have already set a season high in runs for a 3 game series this year. And there is still another 1.3 games to go!

What a debacle, but this is on Maine, even though maybe they should have had a quicker hook.

One thing about Willie, he does everything he can to get them trhough 5 so they can be in line for a win!

  240. metties says:

i can not wait for the postgame

  241. zeekster says:

this is why i was panicking back during the first phillies series

the mets NEEDED to pull away

cuz who is surprised that alou, delgado and hernandez are down late in the season

if we played like we should have back then

they could be intentionally resting by now

  242. Darth Hernandez says:

I’m positive I saw a shot of Lo Duca looking into the dugout for signs. Ever since that they cut real quick to the pitcher after the pitch has been delivered. Thats sort of a big deal right? Paul no calling the game. Willie taking that away from him…

  243. Krusty The Klown says:

id love nothing better than for lo duca to kick the crap outta this pitcher next ab

  244. letsgomets says:

2-0 fastball low and down the middle right where green loves it and down by 2 runs with the offense going silent and he just takes the pitch

  245. letsgomets says:

what post season are gary and kieth talking about el duque pitching in?

  246. toomanyuniforms says:

Rumor has it Omar wants to bring in Pudge Rodriguez next year. . . .

. . . if Omar offers him a contract, Omar should be fired. We’ve seen where the over-the-hill gang gets us.

    • kendychavez says:

who said that? i’ve been on the fence with omar this year, but if he goes after pudge he really does have to go. the last thing we need is another guy that can’t walk to save his life. might as well keep lo duca

  247. Hellbelly says:

You know what bothers me about the Maine start (aside from the obvious impact on the pennant race)?

It screws up my Reyes & Maine for Santana trade. Minny might not want either of these guys.

    • metsforever says:

Why would Minny ever do that? You would be hard pressed to get Santana for Reyes, Humber and Pelfrey. The Mets think way more highly of their minor leaguers than anyone else does.

  248. letsgomets says:

where o where has pedros swagger gone? he needs to leave for a day and then come back so the players can get excited again

  249. letsgomets says:

did you hear that? nationals going to the 6th pitcher of the night and we are losing

  250. zeekster says:

what willie and the mets don’t seem to get

the idea is not just to accentuate the positive

you GOT to ELIMINATE the negative

and the mets, from omar, to the scouts, to willie, to the jacket and finally to the players do not seem to have done anything different to fix their problems

  251. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

matt, please take the magic number down

  252. Krusty The Klown says:

WHAT THE HELL HAS JEFF CONINE DONE TO DESERVE AN AB!

  253. Mister Koo says:

    Conine? Ugh. Automatic out.

  254. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

the reason the nats have 6 pitchers in the game is bc they understand the idea of EXPANDING ROSTERS!!!!! do you think willie even knows humber is up?

  255. toomanyuniforms says:

This team is flailing like a chicken with it’s head cut off. Willie should be that chicken head.

  256. zeekster says:

i think conine may have already retired

  257. Navy_Mets says:

HOW DO YOU PINCH HIT FOR SOMEONE WHO IS 3-3?!?!?!?!

    • kendychavez says:

holy damn ,anybody see gagne blew another game? the red sox fans are freaking out right along with us. yankees fans must be in heaven

  258. stickguy says:

Did they really just PH COnine for Endy? I assume they then put Gomez in for D? Many, this is really starting to smell like a panic. Shades of the PHillies in 1964!

  259. letsgomets says:

atleast damion easely wont have to worry about missing the playoffs because he cant play….he’d be missing the playoffs even if he could play

  260. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

    dude these swings are disgusting

  261. beltransmole says:

At least give some of these young guys a chance. If the everyday guys are just gonna roll over and die at least give the young guys a shot to win it.

  262. Navy_Mets says:

I can’t even think straight, why of why IS CONINE IN THERE?

  263. metschamps says:

I am surely not a Pelfrey fan but I truly have a feeling he will come up big tomorrow.

  264. Krusty The Klown says:

NEVER THOUGHT ID SAY THIS BUT ID RATHER HAVE CASTRO UP THAN REYES

  265. Alban says:

Can someone explain to me what is going on here?

  266. letsgomets says:

bring in the righty so we can bring in anderson to hit

  267. Mister Koo says:

I’d give anything for a 3-run bomb here.

  268. miker94 says:

scary thing is here, if castro walks or just gets a single without scoring a run, we’re done for this inning, since reyes would be up next and god knows, he can’t hit the broad side of a barn.

  269. Darryl Strawberry says:

Now we all get to listen to the Yankee fans at work tomorrow.

  270. jasony816 says:

let me tell you i am so angry right now and i feel like i want to freaking kill someone because this is exactly wat happen yesterday. i dont believe this is happening again and again with the mets, they fail to put the hammer down against the phillies when they had the lead n blow the lead and now they do the same freaking thing with Nationals, for god sakes its the Nationals, how do you let that team come back after 4-0 2days in a row to take the lead. i guess the silver lining to this is that they didnt make any errors…

    • toomanyuniforms says:

EASY! Don’t let this pathetic display get the best of you.

I’m willing to bet Marlon gives up his appeal after this game. . . .

  271. Krusty The Klown says:

    wow

  272. KeithsChili says:

Marlon was swinging at the pitch that was called Strike 3 on him when he was ejected.

  273. Krusty The Klown says:

im happy to say i was at the mets last win of the season agaisnt those bravos HAHAHAHAH 6.5 OUT AHAHAHAH OUCHHHHHHHHHH

  274. letsgomets says:

wow there is an uncontrollable hatred building up inside me and it gets worse after every inning when they show willie in the dugout with the same expression as always

  275. DWright is King says:

I just got an email saying my postseason tickets are arriving tomorrow via DHL. how ironic

  276. upstatemet says:

Yanks up 10 zip…………What else is new

  277. Mister Koo says:

The top of the order next inning. If somethings going to happen, it’s gotta happen then.

    • ibleedblueandorange says:

Something will happen, I can feel it in my bones. Reyes pops up the first pitch, an act I’ve come to call “pulling a Jose,” Castillo grounds out to the 2nd basemen, and Wright flies out.

      Bank on it.

  278. Krusty The Klown says:

hello GTA may i take out my anger with ur game?

  279. DjDeF says:

I am not a big proponent of flipping buffet tables because they usually have good food but this is buffet table flipping worthy

  280. letsgomets says:

no one gives a crap about the yankees..we are suffering enough here as met fans…leave them off of this site unless you are bashing them

  281. stickguy says:

No, I live by Philly. I get to hear it from Philly fans.

I think I will just work from home tomorrow.

I can’t recall ever seeing a team self destruct this quickly and completely.

Is there any particular reason they should win again? It will obviously take a SP stepping up and throwing a solid 8 innings or so. Maybe Glavine? Pedro?

Pray the Pelfrey has his coming out tomorrow. They are going to need it.

Can’t wait to see who comes in for the 7th to pitch:

  282. jasony816 says:

i think it was over once they took alou out of the game because that really killed their morale i think cause they must be thinking wat else could be going wrong… i thinmk willie shouldn’t of taken alou out mid inning n take him out after the inning was over n let the team know when he is on the bench that he is out just to rest him, but when u take him out mid inning no matter wat the team will think he is hurt u know.

    • Mister Koo says:

No, I think Belliard’s 3-run bomb was the back breaker. It totally deflated them. Blame John Maine for this one.

  283. NY Cuban says:

Is it fair to say that Manny Acta has outmanaged Willie in this series?

  284. beltransmole says:

This is like groundhog day. I really didn’t think I was going to see the same exact game two nights in a row. Willie looks like he just lost a close relative. He’s making decisions that make absolutely zero sense. He’s managing like he’s in a coma.

    • ibleedblueandorange says:

All I’m saying is that a lot of managers have gotten fired for far less than their team pulling a 5 game slide with the end of the season in sight.

  285. letsgomets says:

this loss wont be nearly as bad if the phils dont gain a game on us

  286. NY Cuban says:

Thank god I didn’t go to DC for this series. My dad wanted to go, since he is a diehard Nats fan, but I couldn’t get off work. Saved the $ and aggrevation.

  287. Alban says:

PEDRO!!! GET UP AND SAY SOMETHING!!!

  288. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

id love to drill belliard but tat this point we cant afford to have anyone on base and you know if we hit him with 2 out no one on a 2 run hr would def follow theres no doubt

  289. NY Cuban says:

Did anyone hear Michael Kay today calling the Mets fans infants? How dare we blame Willie for the Mets troubles.

  290. Navy_Mets says:

Heilman has two jobs, don’t let anyone on before Belliard and stick one in his ribs

  291. DjDeF says:

Michael Kay should continue to talk about Nazi’s and all that other crap that he did last year. Guy is such a moron

  292. NY Cuban says:

I would love to see Belliar dget plunked here by Heilman.

  293. DjDeF says:

How about that 1-2-3 I sense momentum building…that the game is 3 outs closer to being over

  294. Raisin316 says:

Michael Kay only has a job because he went down on Stick Michael too just like Susan Walman. Those two are Yankee lovers. That guy should not have a mic to talk on ESPN.

  295. letsgomets says:

we need that mentality back when we faced trevor hoffman in that series at home when we came back 2 nights in a row. they played like nothing else matters but getting hits

    • beltransmole says:

We don’t even need that much energy. This team is flatlining. I’ll take a base runner right now.

  296. Alban says:

you know, given the choice between a 1-2-3 inning and drilling belliard in the ribs, I would have gone for the drilling. What a let down.

    • letsgomets says:

except that once someone gets on base with 2 outs we cant get out of that inning with out giving up atleast one run

  297. toomanyuniforms says:

Can’t wait to read tomorrow morning’s Metsblog spin.

    • ghobot says:

do you know what and who metsblog is? i mean why would you use the word SPIN when the mets organization has nothing to do with this site?

      • toomanyuniforms says:

So, only the organization itself can put a positive “spin” on things??

Do you know what spin is????

  298. DjDeF says:

    Here comes the pop-up

  299. stickguy says:

Wow, a quick clean inning by a reliever. I had forgotten what that was like. He better have another one in him just like it.

Now, time for the O to step up and put them ahead in the 8th. Reyes and Castillo get on, then DW and Beltran do the damage. Capped off by a LM triple up the gap.

Or maybe a quick 1-2-3 with 2 pop ups, a DW double, and a K.

One or the other. I can’t decide.

  300. DjDeF says:

    Oh well

  301. beltransmole says:

Reyes another o’fer the night. He has done nothing for this team in 3 weeks.

  302. InsaneMetsFan says:

Who else wants Willie Randolph fired if this team collaspes into oblivion and misses the playoffs???

  303. Alban says:

You know, technically, we’re only two down. With Wright at bat, the tying is at the plate…

  304. longtimesufferingmetsfan says:

i still love reyes, but at this point i’m ready to trade him straight up for an ace in the off season. he’s really regressed.

    • icedrake523 says:

The only guy I would trade him for is Johan Santana. To be honest, I would consider it if they were willing to give up a catching prospect and an above average reliever.

  305. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

    david, wanna win that mvp?

  306. NY Cuban says:

This team is awful. Matt is gonna have to turn off the comments tonight. If he thought last night was bad, wait until tonite.

  307. toomanyuniforms says:

Anyone else watching the Nats broadcast (out of necessity)? This is by far the worst play-by-play I have ever heard. The bias is stunning.

  308. washtiger says:

How is it Fick can bunt for a hit, but Reyes can’t? I’m speechless. This is becoming bizarro world…

  309. kendychavez says:

holy damn ,anybody see gagne blew another game? the red sox fans are freaking out right along with us. yankees fans gotta be in heaven

  310. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

  311. Alban says:

    Goodnight guys. It’s all over.

  312. metsforever says:

If it is any consolation, and it’s not, everybody’s pen sucks, (except against the Mets). The Red Sox spent 3 guys on Eric Gagne and he just blew another game for them. 3 walks and a single after 2 outs.

    Double Play. Any surprise?

  313. toomanyuniforms says:

    My, my, my . . . D. Wright. . . . Ugh.

  314. longtimesufferingmetsfan says:

    Your Season is Over

  315. MetsMachine says:

    nah nah nahhh nahhhh

    nah nah nahhh nahhhhhhhhhhh

    HEY HEY HEYYYYYYY…

  316. letsgomets says:

ok i need your help. any ideas of how i can take out my anger without going to jail?

    • toomanyuniforms says:

Turn off the TV and throw the remote in the garbage disposal.

    • MetsMachine says:

how could you possibly be angry? this is a great thing!

Willie will be gone, all the old bums will be gone.
We get a new regut in the winter.

If the Mets faired well this season….we wouldn’t see that.

This choke is a blessing in disguise. You’ll be glad next April.

      • jose--jose-jose-jose says:

And I would seriously bet anybody $50 right now that willie will be back next season. If you think losing the divison lead this year will get him fired you are so nieve (sp?)

  317. stickguy says:

that was the cahnce. Get the big fork out, and stick it on in.

Pray the Cards hold on, or it is all over but the crying.

  318. metschamps says:

I look at tonite’s game this way – our pitching really stunk but that has kind of been the case off and on all season – especially the pen – but at least the offense and defense have cleaned up their act from the last few games. I have less of a problem losing to good pitching than handing the game over on errors.

Say hows that for positive spin :)

  319. InsaneMetsFan says:

Does anybody else find the “Your Postseason Has Come” commercilas a bit ridiculous at this point???

Mets losing 9-7 and Wright hits into a inning ending DP, first commercial out of the shoot…”Your Postseason Has Come”

How stupid is this entire organization???

    • MetsMachine says:

      Thats not all that bad.

I think its even more embaressing that they play Sweet Caroline at Shea.

NOT YOUR SONG METS! GET A NEW ONE!

  320. kendychavez says:

    and here come the phillies

  321. metties says:

    wright for mvp?

  322. Wayneo says:

I’m sure it has already been said somewhere in the other 500 comments but please take the Magic Number thing down. It is a little pathetic at this point.

  323. letsgomets says:

Don’t worry Met fans, we are still in first place. My gut feeling tells me that my guys will come through eventually.

just wondering what the post game comments will sound like

  324. washtiger says:

Red Sox lost. Oh my — look who’s gaining quickly on their heels…

I think what frustrates me most as a die-hard Mets fan (since I was 8 years old in 1969 — now I’m 45) is constantly playing second fiddle to the Yankees. The Yankees are on the verge of making the playoffs for the 13th straight year. Yes — I know we as Mets fans shouldn’t be concerned with what the Yankees are doing… but c’mon! It’s getting to be a tired act. If A-Rod opts out, think Omar should go for him, no matter what the cost?

  325. DjDeF says:

Why is Ruben Gotay smiling on the goddamn bench?

  326. Darth Hernandez says:

If its true that Lo duca didn’t call Maine’s game then Willie made another major mistake. One that is unforgivable.

  327. Slimting says:

I don’t think they filled the managerial postion down in Houston. Willie better start making some calls, because he won’t have a job in NY next season. My local Home Depot is hiring, I should send him an application.

  328. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

    ok ok ok….

    LETS GO METS!!!!!!!!

lets win this goddman thing. pleaseeeee

  329. DjDeF says:

    Rally caps everyone

  330. Navy_Mets says:

    Phillies just tied it

  331. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

wow just look at that fan confidence meter, looks like 1929

  332. InsaneMetsFan says:

Don’t look now, it’s 3-3 in St. Louis

  333. metsman1557 says:

God, please let the Mets make the playoffs.

  334. letsgomets says:

i dont have a hat anymore , i burned it after that belliard homerun

  335. DjDeF says:

    Rally Rally Rally Rally

  336. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

    LETS GO METS

    LETS GO METS

    COME ON dmanit!!!!!!!!!!!

  337. washtiger says:

We’re due to break through against Cordero. He has owned the Mets the past three years. How about some payback?!

  338. metties says:

any bets on wat willie has to say in the postgame?

  339. letsgomets says:

i know the pitching was terrible, and willie screwed up again. but what the hell happened to the offense? it was looking like a slugfest when it started and then absolutely nothing

  340. MetsMachine says:

Guys….gotta tip your cap to the Nats. We’ll just turn the page on this one.

They are a fiesty team…..played us tough.
It’s a long season….my guys will be fine.

No need to say anything….just gotta get in a nice lil groove.

    • beltransmole says:

John pitched well. He made a couple mistakes but they were able to capitalize. You gotta tip your cap to them. We still have a lead. I’m not gonna manage my guys any different;y then I’ve been doing all year. There tough players, they’ll come around.

    • metties says:

haha its a long season, my guys know that they will be fine

  341. longtimesufferingmetsfan says:

might as well root for the phillies to put us out of misery. maybe that way no one will have to watch after this weekend

  342. metsforever says:

    1.5 and counting.

Rollins is the MVP and a long winter here in NY. METS suck, JETS suck GIANTS horrible.

    Hockey starts soon

  343. beltransmole says:

Phillies have tied it. Should be in 2nd by the end of the week.

  344. MetsMachine says:

Anyone think its pathetic that were praying and hoping with nerves to comeback vs the Nats? The fricking Nats.
This league and this team really are JV.

    Lame.

  345. letsgomets says:

let tommy g get a pinch hit at bat

  346. DjDeF says:

At least he took the bat off his shoulder this time

  347. InsaneMetsFan says:

WOW, Beltran blown away by low 90’s heat.

  348. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

    blah

  349. Slimting says:

Do the mets even have good enough numbers to make the wild card? We might as well forget about the division.

  350. longtimesufferingmetsfan says:

i’m starting to think Maine was a fluke, or nothing more than a very average pitcher. tonight’s performance was pathetic. he didn’t need to superman..just serviceable. it should tell you something when the orioles give up on a pitcher

  351. beltransmole says:

At least we still have Fernando Martinez instead of this guy, who seems to be able to get hitters out. Another solid move by the Coupons and the Mets front office.

  352. letsgomets says:

poor gary cohen, poor kieth, poor met fans. im terribly sorry you all had to see this

  353. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

it could be called the “Days of Attonement mericle”

  354. longtimesufferingmetsfan says:

yes and gomez, who can’t hit the ball out of the infield

  355. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

thank god we didnt trade carlos gomez for this guy ill take a light hitting corner OF over an above average closer any day of the week

  356. WrightMVP says:

I f’n hate baseball right now!

  357. toomanyuniforms says:

Someone is talking about the wild card??? Time to break out the overplayed Jim Mora clip. . . .

  358. InsaneMetsFan says:

Look on the bright side, we all have a front row seat to MLB history. The biggest collaspe in MLB regular season history. 7 game lead with 17 games to play less than a week ago.

    AVALANCHE!

  359. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

    single here paulie single

  360. longtimesufferingmetsfan says:

but omar say reyes and gomez will make a much feared top of the lineup duo

  361. WrightMVP says:

At least Shawn Green has 3 hits.

  362. beltransmole says:

Alright Paulie, ground out to 2nd so we can go home.

  363. longtimesufferingmetsfan says:

    let’s go chumps

  364. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

    LETS GOOOOOOOO

    Come on guys!!!!

  365. longtimesufferingmetsfan says:

keep badmouthing them maybe they’ll pull it out

  366. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

    Gapper here Mr. Marlin!!!!!

  367. InsaneMetsFan says:

RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY! RALLY!

  368. letsgomets says:

no no no dont do this to me

  369. longtimesufferingmetsfan says:

does it hurt more to go quietly in this game, or fall a run short?

  370. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

    Single here ruben single

  371. Alban says:

    RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUBEN!!

  372. toomanyuniforms says:

    Do we dare … ?

  373. letsgomets says:

i cant take this if they lose this game i will have a hugeeeeeeeee whole in my wall

  374. beltransmole says:

Just a small build up so we can be let down once again.

  375. Alban says:

LETS GO METS!!!! COME ON BABY!!

  376. toomanyuniforms says:

I’d walk him to pitch to Reyes, were I Acta.

  377. letsgomets says:

    will reyes pop up?

  378. letsgomets says:

    i spoke too soon

  379. longtimesufferingmetsfan says:

    on the first pitch

  380. Alban says:

    ahhhhhhh.,….. so intense!! God I love baseball…

  381. letsgomets says:

who thinks ruben will fly out deeeeeeeeeeeep to right

  382. longtimesufferingmetsfan says:

    big tease.

  383. toomanyuniforms says:

    Your 2007 New York Mets.

  384. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

    ohhh man

  385. InsaneMetsFan says:

and the final tease, GOD we’re suckers.

  386. longtimesufferingmetsfan says:

    losers

  387. Alban says:

They showed life at the end… I’m glad they did that much.

I feel somewhat better that they did that much.

  388. longtimesufferingmetsfan says:

    forgettable

  389. longtimesufferingmetsfan says:

    they simply stink

    • Alban says:

No. To be fair, Maine stunk today. The Mets scored 8 runs.

      • beltransmole says:

The entire staff sucks. It’s about as bad as you can get when you have absolutely no one you can count on to get you out of an inning. I don’t feel comfortable with Willie going to anyone in that pen for any reason. They all suck.

  390. letsgomets says:

i just broke my tv remote and a glass frame because i flung it across the room

    • jose--jose-jose-jose says:

you seriously have to control that anger.

      that being said…

      DDDDDDAAAAMMMMNNIIIITTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!

  391. WrightMVP says:

Not laughing now are you Ruben. Nice Job!

  392. longtimesufferingmetsfan says:

take the magic number down now!!!!

  393. mistermet says:

    “Gotta tip your cap!”

“No big deal, Get ‘em tomorrow!”

“I’m not worried, I trust my guys (Schoeneweis, Mota, etc.)

Why not use Humber or Joe Smith? You might as well send them home to watch TV or something because they are doing no good here. Why are on the team? Randolph won’t use them cause they are too young. He’d rather send out Schoen and Mota and Sele three days in a row a piece.

    As I said last night:

I PRAY that this team loses EVERY SINGLE GAME the rest of the year in order to 95% assure that Randolph is gone. Yeah we’d be giving up the year but it would benefit all Mets fans in the long run.

You cannot win a championship with this buffoon as your manager.

  394. MetsMachine says:

Keith Hernandez just said the team played a good game tonight.

How is allowing 9 runs to the Nationals a good game?

    How low have we sunk?

  395. longtimesufferingmetsfan says:

yes but it is pointless and looks absurd. just take it down.

  396. gomets122 says:

I think the fact that a mets-nats game accumulated 600+ comments says it all

  397. mistermet says:

Boy Manny Acta that ahole managed that game like it was Game 7 of the World Series. That should have fired them up and made them want to win more. But the manager doesn’t really care, so why should they? He’s got his contract, why bother making the playoffs and working extra hours? He’s getting paid regardless.

Fire him and bring in Ray Knight.

  398. WrightMVP says:

There is no excuse for this whatsever. Embarassing more and more every day.

  399. bobbyfrazz says:

Did Gomez have a chance to score on conine’s hit? They said alomar held him up but I wonder if he may have had a chance to score with his speed?

  400. Krusty The Klown says:

did any1 see if gomez couldve scored on conines hit?

  401. scutter says:

Funny but I don’t hear anyone bashing Green anymore.

  402. Krusty The Klown says:

get em tomorow, cant win em all

  403. Slimting says:

I will slowly withdraw myself from the Mets so when the inevitable comes in a day or so, I will have gone through the pangs and shakes of withdrawal.

I will place remaining tickets from my plan on Stubhub.

I want a refund of my NLDS tickets now!

See you guys again in 2008, it’s been great.

  404. Krusty The Klown says:

OHHHHHH BOYYYYYYYY atleast those poops r poping

  405. InsaneMetsFan says:

Did anyone else hear Keith saying early in the game when it was 4-0 that it was not a time for laughing when he saw a couple players laughing. Then a couple innings later SNY showed Willie laughing and Keith was practically speechless??

Willie has got to go. Hell, bring back Manny Acta, he out managed Willie in these games.

  406. longtimesufferingmetsfan says:

it’s pretty pathetic that Maz is trying to find something positive in this. so desperate

  407. zeekster says:

this team has been totally mismanaged psychologically, strategically and skill wise

  408. zeekster says:

these Mañana Mets should have been playing like there was no tomorrow since mid-august

    confidence only goes so far

you got to change the things that aren’t working

  409. floridianmetsfanatic says:

Looks like the only way we’re going to get that magic number down is to rely on 11 straight losses from Philadelphia because the Mets are just looking for a way to lose each and every game. Yeah, they scored eight runs, but it’s a tag-team effort. One night the pitching staff blows it, the other night we get baffled by the Nats and Phillies #4 starters like they’re throwing some kind of Wakefield knuckleball, and then of course who can forget the ten errors in two games. Maybe the fantasy football thing IS really affecting these guys. (Is that just a rumor floating around? Or is it actually true? Cause it’s really starting to eat at me if it’s true!) Way to go Willie looks like you really put the fear of God in these guys! Great laid back leadership! Pushover!

  410. zeekster says:

i mean everyone and their grandmother knows the mets sit on fastballs

well someone had to impress upon them that there approach to hitting had to change

someone had to throw bp with some breaking pitches

  411. zeekster says:

look how different green has been lately

but he should have made that change a month ago

and the coaching staff should have made sure it happened

  412. zeekster says:

but i think willie is a big part of the problem

the strategic mistakes he makes aside

this whole the season is long things will even out

well what scares me is the mets were playing almost .700 against sub .500 teams

if all things even out we are dead

  413. Krusty The Klown says:

HEY IF THE PHILLIES LOSE THE MAGIC NUMBER IS DOWN TO 10!

  414. zeekster says:

this team has needed the hammer for sometime now

and willie just can’t deliver it

and i am not talking about overt emotional outbreaks thought that might not be all that bad

i am talking about sitting your fanny on the bench if you don’t make the changes that you need to make to get this team to win

reyes has become a freaking head case and should have been reeled in by now

  415. zeekster says:

i would love to see how joe girardi or lou piniella would react to this performance

  416. InsaneMetsFan says:

Ahhhhhh Pelfrey tomorrow, the sweep is inevitable.

“Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel is just a freight train coming your way”
