According to MLB.com, the Marlins postponed
Dontrelle Willis’s start tonight against the Braves, so he can pitch against the Mets tomorrow night.
Willis, who is 11-3 with a 2.39 ERA lifetime against the Mets, was actually sent back to Miami early so he can be ready for the game.
…i’m speechless…i mean, this is a whole other level of trying to play spoiler, right?…damn, man…that’s cold…

That is pretty ridiculous.
Let’s beat their brains in tomorrow.
Perhaps this is some kind of favor and the Marlins are receiving something in return from a certain club(or clubs).
CONSPIRACY THEORIES ABOUND!
ees dis somesort ofjoke? lets keelthese marlinphish!
I love it.
Dontrelle sucks.
Not against us.
Though he is 0-1 with a 10.8 ERA in 5IP in 1 start against us this year.
Let’s repeat that.
Yeah, he’s different this year…I mean, bad. :)
Normally, I would be worried but he’s been down this year with his 9-15 record and 5.34 ERA which includes the stats you posted.
I assume most of that great record came earlier in his career.
Dontrelle has been Mota-like as a starter this year.
Agreed, but still, it’s the thought. Hope that Atlanta does the same against the Phillies, at least.
Cards tie it!!
1-1
1st and 3rd, 2 out, bottom 6th.
I worry more about Dontrelle with a bat in his hand than with a ball.
Random Note:
Did anyone just come here but have a screen showing the postgame notes from a Mets Astros game earlier this month on the old template? Really weird
Yep… one of those internet oddities.
You should clean out your cookies/cache and old internet files. Then restart your browser that usually does the trick
ill take it, the mets seem to rise to the occasion against “aces” and itd get pedros juices flowing
Gotta win 3 of 4 against the Fish, my friends….3 of 4!
I agree with you — I was figuring a split on the 4 but since they didn’t win this series, they need 3 of 4 to take care of business.
haha i was just watching the cubs fans in chicago. we could take a lesson from them. wow, they were great!
Cubs fans not only accept losing but revel in it. They celebrate losing as their divine right. Perhaps you would be happy to go 98 year without winning a WS (this year is up for grabs but it will probably end without winning the WS) but I don’t know of any other Mets fan that would. When they reach the century mark without a WS title perhaps you should join them in celebration.
BTW in 1969, when the Cubs were still in 1st place until the Mets overtook them, the Cubs fans used to taunt the Mets and the Mets fans. To this day they don’t like the Mets and Mets fans.
thank the Marlins dontrelle sucks
Maybe they’re trying to audition Dontrelle to us, knowing that at least one MLB club is going to rape Omar for a frontline starter in the 2007-2008 offseason.
The guy is garbage anyway.
Also, I think Washington and Atlanta are going to tank their games vs. Philly on purpose because of their hate of the Mets. Manny Acta managed that series like it was the World Series. And obviously Bobby Cox does not want the Mets to win the division. Let’s face it, the whole world hates us…that anti-NY mentality really p*sses me off. Garbage
I’ve seen this comment about Manny Acta on Metsblog before. Why does Acta “hate” the Mets?
Yes, he managed the series like it was important and that’s how it should be. Teams that are out of it should play hard right to the wire. But, why do you think he won’t play it the same way this weekend?
Acta has a young team and he’s got them playing like professionals. He really doesn’t want to finish last. I think he’s a good manager and a professional. I fully expect him and his team to do their best this weekend. Now, that may not translate into wins because Philadelphia’s a better team, but if the Phillies make mistakes I expect Washington to take advantage.
That’s ridiculous. The mets gave away this series, plain and simple. If the bullpen wasn’t so atrocious we wouldn’t even be having this conversation. Manny Acta managed like he has all year long which is part of the reason the nationals are semi-respectable instead of a 100 loss team like they were expected to be. The marlins move is a dick move, but that’s baseball. If you think the braves like the phillies you haven’t been watching baseball this year. They’ve played some of the best/worst games in the NL east. I doubt the braves would roll over for anybody, that’s not bobby cox’s style.
They’re angry that there will be beaucopu Mets fans in Miami and Fish fans
The last time a team did this it worked out pretty well for us (The Dodgers with that lousy stiff Eric Stoltz). This is all a bit out of line.
Willis hasn’t been good since 2005. I like this move.
