Note: Umpires are Egomaniacs

Marlon Anderson has been suspended for two games, in response to his tirade when arguing balls and strikes with the home-plate umpire over the weekend.

Prior to last night’s game, he told reporters that he will appeal the suspension on grounds that the home-plate umpire tossed him for not only what was said in this specific altercation, but for what Anderson had said to the umpire in the past.

these umpires are out of control…they’re taking things way too personal…i always thought that the essential rule was: if the player showed up the ump, that is to say, me, as a fan, looks at the situation and thinks, ‘wow, that ump is being made to look the fool,’ then the player gets tossed…otherwise, any words between them is simply quiet, unnoticed communication, regardless of how colorful it is…apparently, unbeknownst to the players, this is no longer the case…

…it’s frustrating, because, i mean, i pay to watch the player play…i don’t pay to watch the umpire…yet, these umps are putting their ego first, which is annoying, strictly from a financial and entertainment point of view…
