fantasy?

how 'bout some reality - mets are in first place by one game with 4 to play...mets have a hall of fame pitcher who's 3-0 going tonight against a team who have been mailing it in...mets end the season at home against argueably the worst team to be fielded in a long, long time...mets have been scoring runs...

all you guys do is whine & berate...jeez, some of you even talk about "jumping off the bridge"!!

it's times like this when you see who the true fans are...who the true leaders are...who the true winners are...

thank God none of you are leading this team...and hopefully, none of you are leading a family or a business for that matter...

I don't think I've seen this anywhere, so I just thought I'd throw it out there. If the Mets end in a tie - for the division or WC - who will start on Monday? Pelfrey? Humber? Duque?

As a Met fan in my 40's, what I have trouble dealing with is that the Mets can't pitch. Even in the late 1970s they could at least expect a strong outing from Craig Swan. Pat Zachary could give you half decent game.

In 1986 the Mets had 4 starters that are better than anything they have now. Who wouldn't like to see any one of Gooden, Darling, Fernandez or Ojeda right now? Goddamnit, I'd probably settle for seeing Nino Espinosa at this point.

These Mets have NOBODY who you can count on when on the mound. That's a pitcher's ball park they're getting shelled in. How many runs would they be conceding if these games were in Citizen's Bank Park or Wrigley?

THEIR ADVANCE SCOUTING IS PATHETIC THEIR MINOR COACHING AND MANAGERS ARE HORRIBLE THIS WHOLE ORGANIZATION NEEDS A CHANGE. YOU KNOW WHAT IT STARTS WITH THE OWNER, WILPON IS A WHIMP. HE NEEDS TO LET THEM ALL GO, STOP ALLOWING THE YANKS TO DOMINATE THIS TOWN, STOP ALLOWING SNY TO TALK ABOUT THE YANKS, STOP ALLOWING WFAN MIKE AND THE MAD DOG TO MAKE FUN OF THE METS.
The Mets pitching over the last week and change resembles how the Phillies pitching has been all season.

As you can see, it takes a lot to overcome.

I've been pretty positive all season long, I'm even positive now, but the pitching is killing me. I don't trust a single person out of pen to get an out when needed.

It's a collective slump for them all, which is almost unheard of. These guys have talent - or at least a handful of them do. Wagner, Heilman, Feleciano should all be pitching better. Even Mota and Show should be a little better than what they have produced.

Simple. With 4 games left, the Mets have to be able to use everybody in the pen, in any given night. Doesn't matter if a pitcher is scheduled to start in two days, if need be he needs to come out of the pen.

If Pedro can't go past five tomorrow, it's time to bring in John Maine out of the pen for an inning or even Tom Glavine, etc.

I still give credit to Rick Peterson for 'righting' Perez and getting something out of John Maine. Even with Maine's struggles in the second half, he produced better than most of us thought he would in the 1st half and that credit needs to go somewhere. Peterson should get some of the blame, but so should the pitchers for just sucking. :D

When the Mets pull this thing out it will just feel so good because of how close we came to losing it. It will feel almost as good as the huge dump I just took, which felt excellent. Just have faith people, we will make it I promise. If we dont you can all personally blame me. Its gona be sweet watchin the Mets fans salute our ace to PEDROOOOOOOOOOOOOO, PEDROOOOOOOOOOO chants after his 7 shutout innings tomorrow night, while simultaneously watching Smoltzie shut down J rOL and company.
