…so my wife walks in from work and sees me holding my head up while staring blankly at the laptop, and says, ‘My God, you look awful, are you going to just collapse tonight.’…to which i responded, ‘Yes, but, if you don’t mind, can we not use that word to describe it.’…

Sorry, but that made me literally laugh out loud.
Hang in there buddy, time heals all wounds.
John Lennon famously said that ‘wounds heal all time.’ That’s what I’m going with.
just like pooping ur pants, it may be hot and gross for a little but soon u will squish it around it will start to harden(ESPECIALLY IF UR NOT CLOSE TO HOME) u soon take off everything and hop in the shower and its off ur body forever(only until u eat those beans with curry on them again)
haha, same here man..laughed out loud here at work…
We will all be ok..we will!!!!
Anthony/Matt, can we try to schedule more viewing parties for metsblog next year? I’d be very willing to even help organize, I think that’d be a great time.
Plus more in game therapy sessions on BlogTalkRadio
At least we get a canned response apology:
Dear Mets Fan:
All of us at the Mets are bitterly disappointed in failing to achieve our collective goal of building upon last year’s success. We did not meet our organization’s expectations — or yours. Everyone at Shea feels the same range of emotions as you — our loyal fans — and we know we have let you down. We wanted to thank you for your record-breaking support of our team this year.
Equally important, Ownership will continue its commitment in providing the resources necessary to field a championship team. Omar will be meeting with Ownership shortly to present his plan on addressing our shortcomings so that we can achieve our goal of winning championships in 2008 and beyond.
You deserve better results.
Many thanks again for your record-breaking support.
the mets set their attendance record by about 475,000 fans this year. i really hope that revenue: tickets, parking, and concessions is going to be filtered into the 2008 mets
a top-of-the-rotation starting pitcher. solid relief pitching. 1 youngish, reliable bat.
If it makes you feel better, Matt, I’ve decided not to blame you personally for everything that went wrong with this team.
I thought about it, but ultimately decided it was not entirely your fault.
Along those lines, I never quite understand why people e-mail Matt when things go wrong. Do they think he has some influence over the organization? I am at times as irrational as anyone when it comes to this team, but why would people spew venom at the guy writing a blog? That whole “kill the messenger” thing I guess.
what ever happened to omar being on fatboy and robin? they said it all day but he hasnt been on
Omar is stuck in meetings. He’ll be on WFAN tomorrow at 2:00 PM.
meetings about firing willie i hope
Googling: “unemployed managers”
haha probably meeting with lawyers to figure out how to not have to pay willie until the year 2060
Hang in there Matt….I feel your pain, trust me. I am sure many of us do. This has been a very difficult few weeks, all coming to a head yesterday with Mr. Glavine’s miserable performance, and even more miserable response after that poor outing. Things can only go up….right?
I have a gut feeling Mr. Rick Peterson is going to be the “fall guy” for this mess, not Willie.
Don’t worry Cerrone. I’ve gone through a lot the past two weeks, I’ve probably lost a few years on my life. We’re all in the same boat.
I think the only we can today is laugh a little.
I’ve been having laughs (not really having a good time considering) with other mets fans all day. ESPN’s page 2’s article on the mets was pretty funny today. But I will not let any of my Yankee fan friends say anything yet.
But Matt, you’re comment also made me literally laugh out loud.
this is pretty funny aswell http://toastedjoe.blogspot.com/2007/09/epilogue.html
I found this on the New York Post
Moises Alou plans on returning to the Mets next season if the club exercises his $7.5 million option.
“If they pick it up, I think I’m coming back,” the 41-year-old Alou said. “I don’t want to end my career like this.” Even though he was injured frequently this season, Alou managed to hit .341 with 13 homers and 49 RBI in 328 at-bats.
this is off topic but is anyone watching Daily News Live today?? Jon Heyman and Seth Everett are right on blaming Omar for this season! they make several good points about not making any off season or in season moves. also they talked about Omar making all the top prospects untouchable when they should be using them for trading chips to get some good major league ready players!
Matt, I hear you. My wife said the same thing to me and told me that I can pop in MLB 2006: The Show in my PS2 and play all night to ease the pain.
This will be my baseball for all of October…
I don’t think that Omar had to make any huge moves that he didn’t make. That is, the talent was in the clubhouse, they just wildly underperformed.
Some was injuries, some just seemed mental. But if a couple of guys held it together better, this bunch could easily have won 93+ games, and the division. And we aren’t having this discussion.
A perfect team? No, but still a good one, and they can be good next year, and still have a reasonable collection of prospects to use or trade.
If we fire Randolph we better have an excellent plan B. I blame Omar for not getting the right pieces for 2007.
I’m with ya Mavi for finding some humor in all this in some really weird and twisted way. This whole season was a big dissapointment with mediocre baseball played mostly throughout. It seemed like even if we continued to play 500 ball and won the division we would have just been knocked out of the playoffs early and Minaya and the Wilpons would have sat idle next year again. At least this way we should expect some major deals happen this offseason.
What does make me incredibly upset is the fact that I now hate every NL east team as much as I hate the Braves and we werent able to shut Rollins up and make him eat his words.
Two words for a tonic to all of the crap we’re taking:
Johan Santana.
How do we know who the author of the posts are? I used to see it easily on the old site, can someone direct me on this? Thanks
I hate to laugh at your expense but that was great. We all appreciate what you do not for just the fans who frequent your site, but I think this blog and the fan support of it has had and will have impact on this organization.
lol. did she actually say “collapse”?
::sigh:: sometimes laughter can indeed be the best medicine…
nice post, Matt. Put a smile on our faces. Thank you.
Matt,
Hang in there! Thanks for the great work all year – even if you are all wet about Randolph.
My wife instinctually (even a word??) asked me tonight if I’m watching the Mets game upstairs or downstairs and only caught herself at the last moment. Thanks honey.
I mean do you look like a building?
hah, good stufff man. by the way, we also just picked up a couple million disappointed padre fans to join us in an offseason of misery.
