Sure he walks alot but that's more likely an implication of the guys like Edwin Encarnacion or Alex Gonzalez hitting behind him than it is proof of Dunn's patience at the plate.

In the Mets lineup, he probably sees more pitches in the strike zone, but that leads to more HRs AND a lot more Ks.

Let's also not forget that a lot of his ABs come against the NL central, probably the worst division in baseball.

Is he a scrub? Surely not. Is he as good as a lot of people on this blog are making him out to be? Definitely not.

I'm with hot stove on this -- Cincy can have Dunn. He's Dave Kingman with OBP -- window dressing for a third-place team.

This is a message for all of you out there that have a very limited memory:

Heilman threw a 1-hitter against the Marlins a few years ago. Then, one week later (ARE YOU LISTENING easycroc??????????) he got bombed against the Marlins. And, that was the end of that.

Heilman is just okay as a setup man (he's more suited to a set-up man's set-up man). He's horrendous as a starter. He has two pitches.

I just don't see why the Giants would trade any of their young pitching that they control for years to come.

If the Giants are really rebuilding (which it certainly looks like they are), they should trade their veterans with value like Molina, Roberts, etc. for prospects. They may like having a veteran catcher like Molina to ground the young pitchers, but everyone else should be fair game (assuming anyone wants those geezers)

i think if anyone gets traded from the giants rotation its lowry, lincecaum is probably untouchable, cain is probably not but will require a milledge, pelfrey, heilman type package.

cain will not come cheap, but a deal is always possible and id definitely rather have him than say willis since i feel the price for them would be fairly similar. also as far as rauch yea he could be had but its jim bowden so hed have to be had for reyes wright and beltran and money probably.

Don't you think the Giants also realize this? What makes you think he's even available? He's exactly what the Giants want to build around for the next few years.

A young promising starter like Cain will not be "pryed" away from the Giants for anything less than Milledge, Pelfrey, and probably someone else.

This is just the way the business of baseball has evolved. Team are keeping their young guys and the lack of supply drives up the price.
