I can't think of any player in the game that would help sensationalize the opening of a new ballpark better than A-Rod. Add to that that he is going to break the all-time HR record, barring injury, and seriously considering bringing A-Rod in makes some sense. He instantly becomes the greatest player to ever wear a Met uniform. I don't think that leaving for NY for NY is even a consideration for A-Rod, it's ALL about the money. And by the way things are going for him, there is no reason to think that having a 43 year old A-Rod on your team is going to be a bad thing. If I could move Wright to first, not second, I think I'd sign A-Rod. Players like this guy don't come around all that often. Why not?

Piazza just wasn't a good fielder, and Matsui just plain sucked when he played here. I don't think Wright would have much problem switching positions, as he is a very good fielder whose only problems are with his throwing arm.
