We still need left handed hitting. Beltran isn’t enough if Delgado and Green were gone.

IMO, if you win a WS with him but he wasn’t even key, and his contract becomes the albatross many think it will become, then no, it will not be worth it.

OTOH, I tend to agree that if he can be the difference between winning a ring and not winning one — ie, he has a terrific impactful offseason like the one Beltran had in 2004 — then yes it will be worth it. But the chances of that happening I think are very small for any team that signs him.

I agree with that, but I think Delgado is better than 75% of what’s out there and a healthy Delgado is top 5 in the NL. So, I still love the guy

I definitely believe there is cause for concern near the end of his A-Rod’s contract, but if you win a WS with him isn’t it worth it?.

Dude, DWright has to move at some point….he is not a quality MLB third baseman as he cannot consistently make the throw to first….

Here’s an idea, why don’t you move Reyes to 2B, like he has done before and played well before getting hurt that season. Put A-Rod at SS his natural position and leave Wright at 3B, his natural position.

Then trade Reyes for a bona-fide under-30 #1 pitcher and re-sign Castillo.

I also don’t think salaries/payrolls are going to rise as much as you think. If you think about it, the price for a premium big bat hasn’t risen all that much from 2000-2001 levels.

But at that point the 28-year old bopper will be driving in 110+ runs a year and probably have a higher BA. A-Rod’s defense might be slipping as well.
