Note: Glendon Rusch Wants Back In
By Matthew Cerrone - Oct 31, 2007 10:52 am

LHP Glendon Rusch missed all of last season due to a blood clot in his lung.

According to his agent, West Coast Sports Management, Rusch will throw a bullpen session for Major League organizations this Friday in hopes of making a comeback.

good luck, glendon…actually, if nobody picks him up, i’d like to see him give it a go with the Mets again, sort of like when the team brought back Bill Pulsipher a few seasons ago…i love a good comeback story, even though they rarely pan out

Rusch’s best season was in 2004, when he was 6–2 with a 3.47 ERA in 32 appearances for the Cubs, 16 of which were in relief.  However, he was 12–16 with a 5.45 REA over the following two seasons.

…hat tip to MLB Trade Rumors for the link

rusch was a soft bum then, and he’s a bigger bum now. no thanks.

and enough with the hat-tipping…golly, turn the page, will ya? go have a sip of that sweet champagne willie talked about :)

yes, when did the “gotta tip your hat to them” become such a sports cliche? David Wright says it all the time as does Cerrone. It’s stupid. How many times has anyone actually seen someone tip their hat at someone for doing something good when their on the wrong end of it? I did’t see Beltran tip his hat to Waingwright (or whoever it was) after he got caught looking at strike 3 to end the 2006 NLCS. I am sure afterward, several Mets said “all we can do is tip our hat to them and move on”

Cerrone doesn’t want A ROD, but he wants Rusch because he likes a feel good story– lol.

why not give Brian McRae a call… and Bernard Gilkey… Butch Husky might be available…Jeff Innis for the bullpen anyone?? Greg McMichael?!?!? Mel Rojas? Turk Wendell, Dennis Cool

    ahhhhhhhh

I’d rather watch Rusch fail than Jose Lima or Chan Ho Park.

Last time I saw Rusch on a diamond he was hauling about 40 extra lbs.

I always liked Rusch (probably because in one of my baseball video games back when he was with the Mets I somehow got 20 wins and a Cy Young Award out of him….talk about realism), but I have no real desire to see him back at Shea, unless it’s in 13 years celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the 2000 team.

He can’t be any worse than, oh, say, Lima/Nomo/Gonzalaez etc, etc
