You have got to be kidding with the knocks on Delgado, one of the classiest, consistent and clutch players the Mets have ever had. How quickly we forget the only Met hitter who hit in the playoffs in "06.

Fact is, all he got in '07 was get older. He is on the decline. If we could sign ARod for first I would consider trading Delgado for some youngsters.

But lets not bash him as lazy, unmotivated or untalented. if you do you are truly clueless.

those kids were making peanuts until they signed those contracts. Arod just opted out of a contract that guarantees he'll be the highest played baseball player ever. a little different scenario there. He is putting himself above every player in the game .. as has been argued ad naseum, if he is that much of a difference maker, going to a team that already makes the playoffs yearly, why no rings? Because he sucks the life out of the room, because he has no karma, because he is so insecure he proves himself with every home run, peering back at his own dugout as if to say "see, I'm as good as my paycheck says"

We have youth and excitement on the left side of the infield, these guys (along with pedro) are singlehandedly what rekindled my passion for baseball after all but losing interest in the steroid era of home runs and ego. Baseball is about the team, one guy cannot win it, and that's something I've no evidence to believe Arod understands.

You are singling out A-Rod as the only guy in baseball who is after a paycheck. If that were the case, why was it so important to David Wright and Jose Reyes to renegotiate their deals with the Mets before it was necessary to do so? Was it because they knew that they could? Yes. Was it because they wanted more money? Yes. Why is it okay for them to cash in to their max potential and not A-Rod?

If it benefits the team to add A-Rod, (and it certainly does), then wouldn't Wright or Reyes volunteering to move positions to accommodate him be considered putting the team first? Yes. So why should either of these guys balk at the thought of switching positions if it is only for the benefit of the team? They shouldn't. Not if they want to do what gives them the best chance to win.

want arod under conditions we assume to be impossible (move him to first, or even better right). 3b is david wright, ss is reyes. If Arod can work around him, he'd instantly prove he actually wants to be a met, is a team player, and didn't just go to the biggest paycheck.

not bloody likely.

The problem with these polls is too many variables. I wouldn't trade Reyes "for pitching" and slot ARod at SS....but I might move Reyes "for Santana" and slot ARod at SS.

It sounds corny, but that article gave me the chills. I love Pedro! I love hearing him talk like that. Tommy (two-face) Glavine could learn a lot from him. If Tommy was a man, he would beg the Mets to give him a deal so he could make up for last year. ...but he's not.

Man, you gotta love Petey! I have a feeling he's going to be vintage Pedro this year. Can't wait for opening day.

send him back to Vieques

he was part and parcel to the apathetic, entitled to the playoffs, bored, media unfriendly team of 2007..

Ill chip in for the Metroliner ticket to send him to Toronto ,, where he belongs.

Delgado is here, and you have to assume he’s going to be here.

why? we can make a move with him..

its only the anti-arod jihadists who believe that once we get Arod we cannot make another move now or in the future.
