Note: Glavine Still An Option

by Mike Nichols on November 8th, 2007 at 7:09 am

Tyler Kepner of the New York Times notes free agent LHP Tom Glavine may still be an option for the Mets.

According to Kepner, Mets GM Omar Minaya plans to meet with Glavine, once the pitcher decides if wants to keep pitching.

Minaya as quoted by Kepner…

“It’s fair to say if he wants to come back, we’re going to sit down with him and see what he’s looking for. This year, he’s going to have the option of Atlanta. We’re going to just let him spend time with his family and decide what he wants to do.”

Earlier this month, during a conference call, Minaya indicated he did not expect to know of the pitcher’s plans until late-November.

…the buzz suggests glavine is most likley to either sign with the Mets, Braves, Nationals or just retire…

…frankly, i’m done with glavine…i think the omar and company should move on…i understand minaya is doing his job by exploring all his options, but my hope is that glavine does not become priority this off season…
