If the Mets can this kind of quality starting pitcher in a package that includes Carlos Gomez, Heilman and Humber I would make the move in a second. Giving up any more than that, however, would be difficult to do

here's a solution: get sheets, a.j. burnett and rich harden. Use one when the other goes down. That way you get 32 starts out of these clowns/

Sorry to be a DOWNER, but the only way that Santana will be on the Mets, is if we get him in '09 as a FA. The Mets do not have what the twins want. Santana is the BEST pitcher in baseball with a closet full of Cy Youngs. He will not be traded for a Pletra of Mediocre players. If you want Santana, you would have to give up a Reyes Caliber Player

It's pretty obvious that in this weak free agent pitching market, teams are just putting out their guys to get a feel for what the market is like. If there's guys who teams were thinking of trading/not resigning in the next few years, they me be realizing that this may be the time to do it instead of waiting.

Dont trade OP. He is going to be an ace in the next few years. Just my gut, but I REALLY don't want to trade him.

mets should really try to trade for santana is he becomes available; the thing is, the Mets don't really have the farm system to get him, and i'd really prefer them not to trade Reyes...the Yankees, with Hughes, Chamberlain, Kennedy, Cabrera, Tabata, Horne, and the Dodgers with Kershaw, LaRoche, Kemp, and Ethier can easily sway the Twins' mind more than the Mets, with some combo of Milledge, Maine, Perez, F. Martinez, Gomez, Pelfrey, and Humber...my dad did tell me that I heard the Twins were interested in Oliver Perez, Fernando Martinez, and Phil Humber for Santana...thoughts?

I think most of what we're hearing this offseason are "kick the tire" discussions. Peavy, Willis, and Sheets... the whole lot of them. They are bonafide aces and there's no real reason to trade them. (OK, willis is not, but you know what I mean.)
