We need a pitcher anyway, and it's not like he was horrible. He made 7.5 last year, and I'm not sure how much more he'd get at arbitration. The year Maddux went to arbitration he got 14.75. He made 13.1 the year before.

I guess I have shown his negative. However, the plus side is that the dude can hit. He is a line drive machine and not many catchers in baseball can hit as well as him. That's why i would take him back.

Anyone know if Loduca was rated an A or B free agent? I would offer him arbitration at least.

I think Pualie is done with the Mets. He took a few not so veiled shots at his manager last season and i can't see that working out in the clubhouse. Omar committed to Willie and i can't see him uundermining him by bringing a critic back. Omar will let Paulie walk like he did when Hulio Franco started taking some shots at Willie.

I think the Mets will re-sign Castro for 2 years. however, Castro has not been able to stay healthy as a back-up, I don't see the mets counting on him as a starter. I can see them signing Torrealba as the starter with the expectation of him starting about 110 games and Castro starting about 50 games.

However if they sign Castro, can that put some kind of weight clause in his contract, the guy seems to keep him self in horrible shape, which likely affects his durability and throwing as it takes forever for him to get out of the crouch.

I think Hernanez from Baltimore makes the most sense. A couple of mid-level prospects, take on his contract and, assuming he is healthy, call it a day. Two years ago, prior to his injuries, he had a solid year.

I'd be careful about giving Glavine arbitration. He wants to go to the Braves, but if the offer's not there he'd accept in a second. Do you wanna spend $13 million on Glavine next year?

Loduca's fine for a 1 year contract with an option for a second year. Two years garanteed is a little much if you ask me. However, given the options, I'd still consider a two year deal.

We've gotta sign Castro, and let him play 70 games next year. With no other catchers in our future, we've gotta see if Castro can start in 2009. Let him split time with Paul and see how he holds up.
