Great point, I totally agree, especially for a large market team, like we're supposed to be.

7-train, do you mean when you talked about the svengali effect?

Yup, you were right. And then I said he's 32 and should be able to stand up on his own by now. Well maybe this is a sign that he's finally starting to do it. Good for him. I think he should fire Boras, and Rosenthal said that A-Rod's friends were urging him to do that. They are a toxic combination together. A-Rod needs someone who really has his best interests at heart. Who can guide him better. Boras has been terrible for him. Oh, of course he's been great for A-Rod's wallet. But just terrible for him reputation, which is something money can't buy. Any agent would have done decently for A-Rod in the money department. But he needed someone with better judgment than Boras who would have also cared about A-Rod's legacy and image in the game.

I now know there is a "7TrainLocal" and you, but are you saying there is also a plain "7train" too? If so, no wonder I've gotten confused. I differentiate you from "7TL" by your positions on Bannister -- he defends that trade but you were not for it. I wonder where "7train" comes out on that one, lol. Too confusing!

I really don't understand why you are guaranteeing that Santana will be a Yankee. There's no such guarantee. I wouldn't even call them a front runner.

And you know what they're doing? They're spending about $100M more than the Mets each year on payroll. That's their big secret. And all that got them this year was 1 more postseason win than the Mets got. Whoopty-doo.

The model for success right now is the Red Sox. Not the spendthrift Yankees.

VCarver, this is what I was talking about the other day. I bet Arod took a step back and looked at the whole situation with Boras and how he is percieved because of what Boras does and said, "enough of this BS".

Also, for the record there is a poster named 7train who is not me.

the yankees have LESS money, thats a good one. if the yankees sign arod, maybe they wont trade for santana but you can guarantee he'll be a yankee in 09 giving them the best player and pitcher in the game. We can all sit here and mock the soap opera, and bash the members of their FO but like it or not what ever it is theyre doing has worked a hell of alot better than whatever strategy we have here in queens.

Biggie is real excited now because he saves the money he had already allocated for a new Mets/A-Rod jersey!

Is anyone else as excited as I am? Not only do the Mets not sign Arod, but both Arod and the Yankees are shown to have to pride or class, and Boras just looks ridiculous. Just about the Best Case Scenario if you ask me.

Arod's off the market and our catchers are taken care of. Can we please now focus on the more pressing needs of this team?

C'mon, seriously? I have a lot more respect for A-Rod now. If he fired boras, I'd have even more.
