Yep, and as we've talked about before, he should let Pelfrey let it fly at 96-97 MPH instead of the 90-91MPH sinkerballs he makes him throw.

i agree i love maine and perez, if they can get the gas tanks up to 200 IP for the season that would be a dream come true. i think peterson needs to relax on maine with the idea of always keeping the ball down. hes a fastball strike out pitcher he needs to utilize the whole zone. i was at his last start and i think alot of his success came from the fact that he was lettin a couple of those heaters fly high in the zone and changing the eye level of the hitters.

That's exactly why I hope the Dodgers land Cabrera. This would eliminate the contender with the best prospects from the field.Whatever they give up to get Cabrera will leave them without the needed chips to land Bedard. Go Dodgers!

Yeah, its a gamble that could work out or fail miserably. It depends if it's worth it to take that gamble. Coming off 2007 and seeing what happened at the end when the bullpen imploded and Brian Lawrence lost those key starts (and was pulled in the 3rd or 4th innings no less), it's still fresh enough in my mind that I would rather have probable consistency (even though it's mediocre) as opposed to unpredictability with a possibility of upside.

I agree to an extent, people here seem to underestimate the HUGE value and potential Ollie and Johnny Maine are to us. Those two guys have GREAT stuff and when fully developed will be dominate. Look at the progress they made from 2006-2007. They obviously still need work, but they are going to be there for us. Any trade or even discussions on moving them is stupid. They will be the front of the rotation before long.

Do you think it is out of the realm of possibility that the Mets could at least get the O's to throw in a couple of decent AA prospects for that package?

we already have a daniel cabrera his name is oliver perez. but with that being said i do think bedard is being dangled as bait to get a teams interested then shifting their focus to cabrera.

I would love to see either Matt Garza or Kevin Slowey along with Daniel Cabrera on the Mets. And let me tell you this ... don't be surprised if we already have our ace on the roster, his name is Oliver Perez.
