Sounds good as long as Andy LaRoche, James Loney and Kemp ALL don't land in FLA.

omar wont spend freds money bc fred wont let him. plus havent you been reading all the brilliant posts about not getting arod, our offense is fine we dont need offense. we have an elite offense that cant hit AAAA pitchers or rookies making their debut. Plus most of us can spit farther than castillo can drive the ball, and that once youre past alou (the 5 hole) theres no threat whatsoever; why would omar need to do anything to improve such an impressive colletion of offensive players.

sorry im just still a bit sour on all the nonsense i read on this site about our offense "not being the problem".

we should be rooting for the Dodgers. That way they have less of a chance at Santana

None of the players traded would help us obtain the Ace we need now. Not without still giving up the same players we would have to now.

There's nothing unfortunate. The Mets had a stocked farm system two years ago and were able to take advantage of the Marlins firesale then. They snagged Delgado and LoDuca for Jacobs, Petit, Psomas, Gaby Hernandez and Dante Brinkley.

Omar got solid seasons from from Delgado/LoDuca and made the Mets into a WS caliber team. Unfortunately, the roll of the dice with trading away the farm was for a very tiny WS window of opportunity. Delgado/LoDuca both took turns for the worse age-wise and production-wise and Omar failed miserably last winter to "tweak" his elite level team, resulting in a disintegration to a non-playoff choke team.

We got the big fish from Florida before. We had a realistic chance at the gold ring. The time passed.

We can't get Cabrera. We can't get Santana. We have nothing comparable left to deal. And we're not a WS caliber team needing a "tweak" like last winter, either. We are again a non-playoff team with holes in the field, on offense and pitching-wise. Omar has to spend Fred's money to fix the team.

Milledge AND someone else for Blanton? Fire Omar now if he's even contemplating it.

If you can't get an impact SP, you hold onto Milledge. Blanton is nice but not worth it.

If the fish get Kendrick in a trade that would leave Uggla without a position. I wonder if the Mets would take a flyer on him. I know he has a minus glove but that bat is definitely a plus.

You all make excellent points about the ripple effect of a trade for Cabrera on the pitching market. While the Dodgers could be scary with him, I am still not that impressed with their pitching and agree that they wouldn't have enough to get the "premier" pitcher that we will also be seeking.

That being said, this just might give us a better shot at a Bedard, Haren or even Santana (I just have a funny feeling that A-Rod coming back to the Yankees may mean that they now can use their pitching not for a Cabrera, but for Santana.)

My own prediction--- Omar makes a move, but because of asking prices gets Blanton. (Probably Milledge and another picther. If we have to give up a Heilman, I would ask for another player back.) Then we are either looking at Gomez in right or we sign someone (Reggie Sanders?) to fill RF.

With ARod back in the Bronx, Cabrera is both the best 3B and probably the biggest impact bat on the market. Both Dodgers & Anaheim really need him...now it's all about who blinks first and overpays.
