During a conference call with reporters yesterday, Mets GM Omar Minaya said that Duaner Sanchez will begin pitching during winter ball in the Dominican Republic next month.
Last week, in a poll of more than 3,200 people at MetsBlog.com, when faced with a variety of options on how best to fix the team’s bullpen, the majority of fans agreed the best approach is to simply ‘pray for the health of Juan Padilla and Duaner Sanchez.”

Nice … I hope he comes back healthy … we really missed this guy. We really need him to be the pitcher he was.
Duque, Feliciano, Padilla, Sanchez and Wagner. That is a good start. This is going under the assumption that Heilman gets traded in a package deal for a top line starter. Maybe!!!! That leaves only two spots. I believe that Mota and The Show are still under contract. I could deal with Show, but I think that Mota is washed up. Maybe we could put together a package to either the Orioles or A’s for either Bedard/Bradford or Blanton or Haren???? Sign a FA catcher, Castro, Castillo and call it a day……The only remaining quesiton is: Do we roll with Pelfrey in the #5 spot or sign Livan/Silva????
You can’t overstate how important it would be to get 2006 Duaner Sanchez back for 2008. He’s a lot better than any middle relief option on the market, and cheaper too.
It’s just really hard to count on him after all he has been through. It sucks, the guy had a rubber arm and didn’t even hurt it pitching.
i agree. The biggest addition to our pen would be a healthy Duaner pitching to his 2006 level of dominance. He was a closer in waiting til that damn cab ride
A nice ray of sunshine on a rainy day :)
Halleluiah!!
Dirty Sanchez healthy and near his form of 2006 would be the biggest addition we could make this offseason to the pen. Short of stealing Mariano Riviera or signing Cordero from the Brewers
Sanchez at his 2006 form is better than Chad Cordero.
He may be better than Chad but I was talking about Francisco Cordero,, The Brewers former closer
Sorry, forgot you were referring to Francisco, not Chad.
Great. Now, Duaner:
DO.
NOT.
GET.
INTO.
ANY.
CABS.
THe team has requested Dominican Food to be delivered to him after every game. No need for Sanchez to venture into a cab. I think that Glavine’s dentist is a little upset that he won’t be taking anymore cab rides in NYC.
Let’s hope he is ready to go! Man, that would be a HUGE upgrade!
