Pelfrey and Humber are former blue chip prospects at current blue light special values. Maybe they turn out to be duds, but it's far too early for the Mets to value them that way when other teams are doing so.

Humber had a pretty good season for a PCL pitcher getting his first full year in after TJ surgery, and he got better as the year went along. Pelfrey has been tossed about on the AAA-MLB shuttle, and that inconsistency in locale and playing time is the last thing a recent draftee needs. Plus, Peterson's doing 10 minute fix jobs on his game to make him a non-fastball groundball pitcher.

Unlike 99% of people, I'd rate Humber ahead of Pelfrey now, only because he's had less time with Rick Peterson to have his head and game totally screwed backwards. It's not too late to get Mazzone here. Mazzone's no miracle worker, but he's closer to it than Peterson, and I don't think Humber/Pelfrey rate as miracle jobs anyway.

I'm not so sure taking the same team that collapsed in September and replacing Glavine with Livan and letting Green depart as your only changes is the right direction.

Is he interested in Mota's or Shoenweis's job... A guy, rather large guy at that, with his fire could help in the pen. I like his character, well maybe his fire more then his character at times, if he were interested in a role in the pen I think it should be considered, even if only for Sele's job if it were not given to Humber or another prospect trying to break into the rotation. As a starter though, it would have to be a pass, unless as stated things have gone very very wrong.

It will be great, when ever they give up a run we can eat a hotdog... We'll be broke by the 4th inning.

I'm in, only if we give Wells $10 million per start and he doesn't have to travel to home or away games. Actually, we should just pay him to be on the team but not play.
