GOSH DANG IT! THERE GOES OMAR, GETTING UPSTAGED BY A RIVAL AGAIN!!!! Ha, there. got it out of the way…

I have to admit i am getting a little impateint. i know it’s early but it seems like the Braves and phillies are making moves while were getting alot of fluff. it feels like last off-season when i was very patient and waited all winter for that big move that never came…….

    • Web says:

Um, you do realize that the Phillies have traded for head case Brad Lidge and signed Chris Snelling, whoever the hell he is. Don’t overreact. There is a long time until pitchers and catchers report.

      • Hit The Weights Zeile says:

not to mention they missed out on lowell who despite what they tried to tell everyone was one of their targets, and it seems likely that someone will probably overpay for rowand and take him off their team. so you take away his numbers (and gold glove defense) from last year and assume rollins doesnt repeat his career year and their offense and defense could have very well taken a step back.

  3. x-nady says:

come on guys. This is Chris Snelling! He played in 30 games last year and less than 100 in his 4 year carear! It’s not like they signed Tori Hunter.

The mets have already signed Easley, Marlon & Castillo and about to sign a catcher before the deal fell apart. It’s not like they are doing nothing. Pitching is what we need and that is usually the last to go.

    • The Stache says:

I think if there is ONE move this offseason that puts a team over the top,I undoubtedly believe it is the acquisition of Chris Snelling for Cash.

    • Web says:

I forgot all about how we resigned Easley. I think his injury was one of the major reasons we fell apart down the stretch. Here was a player who wanted it badly since he hasn’t been to the playoffs before and he was a huge right handed bat off the bench.

      • x-nady says:

Indeed. It was a freak injury year last year. Especially with the outfield. Alou went down (but that was really expected), then Endy pulled his Hammy, then Beltran and his Quads, and Green Broke his foot just when it appeared he was returning to form. Not to mention Lo Duca and Castro going down in succession.

One less injury could have resulted in one more win for us. But hey, thats baseball and thats why I LOVE THIS GAME! So many Variables.

  4. BaysideBillyD says:

mike and the mad dog just reported that the mets just aquired Johnny Estrada

    • x-nady says:

Really! I don’t want to get excited b/c after all this is M&MD. Who did it cost us if this is true? He wasn’t a free agent was he?

  5. Number41 says:

I miss all that ARod chatter.
This will be like deja vu, all over again.
Just replace the name Zito with Santana.
In the end we’ll get El Duke’s brother because he can eat innings and appearantly anything else that he sees.
No need to change any name plates in Port St Lucie for ‘08, sadly.

  6. ed fever says:

just posted estradas numbers at fever

  7. kidderek says:

Mets get Johnny Estrada for Mota.

    • Hit The Weights Zeile says:

haha are you serious? if we got estrada for cheap id be very happy hes a solid catcher not gonna wow you in the batters box but a definite upgrade over lo duca.

    • x-nady says:

      ESTRADA FOR MOTA!!!!!

      LOL!

Ok guys. Indeed Omar has made moves in the past that are questionable (signing mota was one of them). But you got to give it up for him on this one.

I would accept a Bag of Sand, let alone a prospect, let alone a good MLB ready catcher that fills a big need for Mota.

      Props Omar. Props.

  8. bigchart333 says:

great news bout estrada!!! thank GOD mota’s gone!! and now we can trade some prospects for PITCHING, not catching…excllent

  9. 7 Train says:

Len Berman on NBC just reported this as a done deal as well….

  10. robmenna says:

    OMAR MINAYA PRINCE OF THIEVESSSS!!

  11. lunaraurora says:

Guys Chris has been for me a good acquired ..we need it for a better game’s strategy.

  12. Juuu know what I'm Sayin? says:

    Mets trade MOta for Estrada!!

    http://www.mlbfleecefactor.com

  13. ed fever says:

    roto world has it too

  14. ReyesRocks says:

I think this is a great trade. Many of the Mota Haters should be freaking ecstatic. I think Estrada will platoon with Castro quite well. It’s a decent catching tandem, it moves Mota out of the way, and realistically it doesn’t cost any prospects.

  15. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

so how long before mota becomes a dominant setup man?

    • bigchart333 says:

or how long before estrada needs season ending/career threatening surgery?

      • gowrightgo says:

Come on guys. For Mota……we just hit a homerun. We could have gotten an independent league catcher for him an I would have been impressed but Estrada…If healthy, after his surgey…he could be very good. Used to throw out 30% of his runners. Just last season he was affected by a bone spur that got corrected this offseason

  16. Krusty The Klown says:

    YES YES YESS!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. metman80 says:

Is Estrada a rapist also? Then we could call our catching tandem, “The Rapists” :-)

  18. tonylett says:

the illies win the pennant–the illies win the pennant–the
    oh, eh, nevermind.

  19. robmenna says:

    2B and Catcher is done.

    Now to bullpen.

Go get Damasco Marte from the Pirates.

    Then work on an ace.

    • Hit The Weights Zeile says:

ian snell damasco marte and jason bay in the same deal, sign livan for the 5th starter and sit back and count down the days till spring training….a guy can dream

  20. tonylett says:

Why is there no mention of shawn chacon?

btw if you can get dan haren f/ oakland you do so!

heilmann, millage and either pelphrey OR humber is NOT
    unreasonable!

also, this catchin’ situation is NOT great castro looks like a
    back-up 200ab a yr guy and estrada,while he can hit a little
is not a real good defensive c by any means (calling gm.,blocking or throwing) so???

  21. lawgotham says:

I’m still annoyed about them getting Lidge. Snelling is Ben Johnson in Phillie pinstripes.

  22. Ryn5 says:

    Exactly.

  23. Koko says:

I thought the same exact thing. If there is one team the NY Mets have better and more prospects then it is the Phillies and getting Ian Snell. . .

Oh well. That is what I get for not reading thoroughly.

  24. WrightOn says:

Hell yeah! Actually I’m gonna say 3 birds because in my eyes Mota was 2 birds on his own :)

    Woohoo!

  25. dontstopbelieving says:

.131 last year — lowest in the majors!

    oof…
