During his conference call with reporters yesterday, Tom Glavine said his two young sons were disappointed he left the Mets, for the Braves, because they have become Mets fans, specifically fans of David Wright and Jose Reyes.
…hahahhahahahaha…hi, larious…
For more on Glavine’s comments, check out John Delcos in the Journal News.
By the way, as compensation for losing Glavine before December 1, the Mets will receive a first-round pick from the Braves during next year’s draft.
According to a MetsBlog.com poll of more than 3,200 people, 89 percent of those polled would prefer to have Atlanta’s top draft pick, instead of Glavine, even if the Mets are unable to acquire a top-line starting pitcher before opening day.

Prediction: In their first at bat versus Glavine in the ‘08 season, either Wright or Beltran is going to hit a titanic home run blast. Who will it be? Wright or Beltran?
It will be Wright, and then Glavine’s kids will boo their dad.
PRICELESS
I’m more interested in the amount of boos he will receive.. is ay 75% boos 25% cheers
Also, I dont think we get a first rd. pick.. Daily News Reports we get a sandwich pick in between the 1st and 2nd rds… i dont know what that is considered
No-as of now we get both the Braves’ 1st round pick (18th overall) and a compensation pick (34th overall). This is because Glavine is a Type A free agent…If he was ranked a Type B, then we would only get the compensation pick.
Should Omar go out and sign a Type A free agent of his own, then the above situation would change depending on the incoming players ranking as compared to Glavine.
The Daily News is wrong. Glavine was a Type A free agent, so the Mets get the Braves #18 pick and a sandwich pick between the 1st and 2nd rounds.
Well at least someone from his family rooted for the team. Can’t say that about Tommy.
2 picks instead of Glavine? This is the greatest day in NY Met history!
glavine’s wife is also one fine piece of ass. so i guess everyone in glavine’s family is cool except tommy, who is a miserable piece of excrement.
Mets just signed Julio Franco to a 2 year deal…..Way to go, Omar. http://www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_76998.asp
This is the second time you posted that link and it’s from 2 years ago. Are you trying to be a troll, or do you just hate Omar so much that you make stuff up about him?
His kids are cool, but I’m glad he’s gone! I hope they told him how devastating that final performance was…maybe then he would get it!
can we trade his two kids for some of the supposed fans on this site?
I found that detail about Glavine’s sons the most interesting part of the press conference. I think his two youngest were both under five years old when Glavine came to the Mets, so Tommy being a Met is all they have ever known.
Pretty strange since the rest of the country will always remember him being a Brave. I wonder if his kids will wear Wright/Reyes jerseys to the Braves games.
Now Omar has to actually pick good players with these picks.
I wonder who was more upset about Glavine pissing the season away on 9/30? Glavine or his sons??
Doesn’t Pedro really replace Glavine? This assumes Pedro is healthy of course and doesn’t miss too many starts.
That seems to be a nice upgrade in quality. I don’t think pedro will have an ERA around 4.33. Add in the 2 draft picks and this is a wonderful thing for NY.
I think El Duque would look great in the pen as a 7th/8th inning guy and also provide a spot starter if Pedro needs a break.
I also thing we could package Heilman/Humber and either Milledge or Gomez for a quality starter. A.J. Burnett could be a target as well as the other guys mentioned.
Pelfrey can have the 5th spot.
