He's only got 300 at-bats under his belt for christsakes. You give him 500 at-bats next season and there's better then a 50/50 chance that he could match the line that Fukudome does. I think it is a given that he would be a defensive upgrade as well. The problem is that these are "projected numbers" based on his performance in Japan. We have seen how these experiments work and they are impossible to predict. I think Mets fans know this better than anyone.
