in checking out a brewers blog site the fans over there seem real happy to be rid of estrada and were hoping to get kendal. i still like getting rid of mota. and we’ll see is estrada is even around come spring training

    what blog are you on?

the mets in essence released mota (and not have to pay him another cent) and instead have an option to ’sign’ estrada to a 4 million dollar deal or just let him go.
id rather the mets let him go and use the money saved on mota for a catcher thru a trade.

Just sign Barrett. He’s better than Estrada. Estrada can be a second backup catcher.

      No. No. No. No.

      You’d give up a first-round pick to sign Barrett, who’s a Type-A free agent?

      I wouldn’t.

      No. Way.

The Brewer blog that I’ve been reading (Brew Crew Ball)basically runs along the lines that They are very glad to be rid of Estrada, but most do not want Kendall.

Their assessment from one tumultous season with Estrada is that he is fat, slow and lazy. I’d personally like to see him get a chance with the Mets. He may be one of those players who will benefit from a change of scenery, and he is a 3-time all-star who has hit well over several seasons in the past. In addition, his recent surgery may help his defense.

Meanwhile, they seem to think that they got bullpen help with Mota. Perhaps he too will do better away from NY, but I don’t think they realize what a detriment he was in ‘07.

I’m a little baffled by Milwaukee’s front office targeting Kendall as their new man. I haven’t checked his stats, but I recall him with the Cubs late last season, and his spot in the lineup was pretty much an automatic out (until Mota and the pen showed up). He’d been a nice player in his prime with Pittsburgh, but his skills have clearly eroded.
