we need pitching but we don't need to get all trigger-happy and make a deal for the sake of making a deal, be patient, I know that is the opposite of what the hot-stove is about but still

i worry if wagner is going to let us down next season. with the way he pitched in '07, i don't have confidence in him. he didn't appear to be confident himself either...

If you're talking about planning for next year, we only hold the 2008 contract for one of those three. As for choosing where to invest the payroll, those three relievers were signed to deals totaling 6 years for 16.8 mil. Cordero and Linebrink signed for a total of 8 years and 65 mil, and the Mets would have had to outbid those numbers to get them. I don't really get the comparison here....

I wouldn't mind have Garza, Perez and Maine. Maine was tipping his pitches last year. Perez did fine, when his fielding did, and Garza did well last season.

But Cabrera would be a waste, considering his performance is like that of Pelfrey but he's older and has less upside.

Yeah, he's not talking about Gomez. He's talking about the lack of depth in the hitting department outside of Gomez and Martinez.

However I guarantee that Lucas Duda will turn heads this year.
