Beckett's the best guy in all of baseball hands down, in my opinion. That said, I'm okay with going for Santana as long as we don't get stupid about it. I don't want to trade Reyes, Perez or Maine. If we have to pay too much, go for Haren, Bedard, Oswalt, Sheets, or one of the other countless aces that are being mindlessly dangled by random GM's lately. I actually think Harden is worth the gamble. Peterson might be able to keep him healthy, and he's an ace when he is. Kuroda doesn’t seem worth it to the Mets to consider.

A 32 years old Japanese pitcher who has yet to throw a baseball at the major leagues is seeking for 4 years? Are you kidding me, Daisuke Matsusaka (I really don't remember how to spell his name) is 26 years old and got pounded at the end of the season because his arm was not used to pitching at that short of rest plus the excess of innings and hitters starting to figure him out. Although I'm also starting to sicken of the Santana talk, we NEED him. we are not talking about the best guy available...we're talking about the best guy in all of baseball (albiet argueably). His value is that he can already be penciled in for games 1 and 4 of any post season series. His percieved post-season struggles aside, he gives us the best chance to win his 2 games, AND the best chance to save our bullpen for the other games. You cannot say that about any pitchers on our roster (or on our farm) at this point.
