A) what joke?

B) like i said, he didn't deserve it. nobody does. neither did the guy that pac man's entourage shot. nor did darrent williams (shot on new year's eve last year and killed in denver) or joey porter (shot in a night club a few years back).

C) I didn't bring up the topic. I commented on it. Horrible tragedy, but the NFL needs to come up with something to keep its' players out of the headlines for the wrong reasons.

RIP Sean Taylor

Anyone else think Colon would make a great setup man at this stage of his career? He's logged a lot of miles on that arm, but he still has some juice left. Being able to air it out for one inning at a time could pump up his fastball some.

Just a thought.

He also has spent the past few years in a good hitters park. Coming to Shea would be good for him.

Plus, we don't need him to be lights out, we need someone to keep us in games and throw 200 innings so the bullpen doesn't wear out again.

I hate to say it, but this team missed Trachsel. He at least could get us 6 most nights. The Lawrences and Limas of the world only get through 3, if that many.

A) No one cares about your opinion of NFL players... this is Metsblog.

B) Regardless of whether or not Taylor was an upstanding young citizen, he is still a 24 year old kid who was shot in his own home. He's still someone's father, son, significant other, and teammate.

I am far from a sensitive or PC person, and I have a fairly morbid sense of humor, but your "joke" was simply out of line.

And a word of advice. An apology is much more effective without paragraph upon paragraph qualifying what you "meant" or that your callous remark had a modicum of truth in it.

The mets need a high quality starter not another person who can vie for the number 5 role. I actually believe that one and two are Martinez and Maine and we're still hoping that Perez can become more consistent. He's still definitely one of the better number 3 starters in the league.

I don't think that Carlos Silva is that good, especially from a BAA or a W-L. Innings eater perhaps. Colon or Livan could surprise, but not for long, better than Chan Ho Park or Brian Lawrence.
I actually think that Mike Pelfrey or Philip Humber could be better but are certainly worth trading for a great, proven starter like Santana. I would not give up Reyes, no way. Without him the Mets are the same as they were in Sept. without a productive Reyes. Not even a .500 ballclub. for Santana, Milledge, Pelfrey, and Heilman.

I already apologized for the comment. But the reality of the situation is, he is obviously involved with the wrong crowd. When you start messing with people when guns are involved, only bad things can happen. It's not just Sean Taylor was the only point I was trying to make. All I said was this doesn't surprise me one bit.

As I said before, why have the following players and former players never been shot at (or shot anyone for that matter):
-Brett Favre, Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, Tiki Barber, Jeremy Shockey, LaDainian Tomlinson, Tom Brady, Chad Johnson, Jonathan Vilma, Larry Johnson....

The list goes on and on. I never wished Sean Taylor harm, but the is getting so ridiculous with these players involved in shootings...whether it is getting shot or doing the shootings. I point to his track record because he himself was carrying a gun. As the old addage says, "keep playing with fire, you'll get burnt." I'll say again, so those of us with short memory lapses won't accuse me of insensitivity...I NEVER WISHED THIS UPON SEAN TAYLOR. I HOPE HE HAS A SPEEDY RECOVERY AND THEY FIND THE GUY THAT DID IT. ALL I'M TRYING TO SAY IS THE NFL IS A JOKE. THESE PLAYERS RUN AROUND WITH GUNS, KNIVES, AND OTHER WEAPONS THINKING THEY ARE ABOVE THE LAW. This is unfortunately, the end result. Get well Sean.

Let's go Mets.

Although his innings are dipping, Livan has proven that he is a innings eating work horse. Omar should just snap him up now and then concentrate on SP and BP at the winter meetings.
