Bedard + Huff would fill 2 needs. Basically would just leave the BP to round out (from the left over pile of course), unless they trade Milledge and need a starting RF. GOmez ain't gonna cut it.

Just please do something and get it over with.

The 3 guys I really want to stay are Milledge, Pelfrey and Martinez. Although Mulvey looks intriguing too, but not as much.

Milledge straight up for Blanton is a rip off. By the A's unfortunately, not the Mets.

Now, Blanton + a real C prospect for Milledge and Estrada would be a different story.

If Omar is going to trade a bunch of guys for a P, at least get some prospects back that will fill another need, or a salary dump like Huff.

Never mind all these wacky trades. Our prayers have been answered. Minaya just traded for Brian Stokes from the Tampa Bay (Devil) Rays for cash. I should never have doubted him. What a masterful move. 1.84 WHIP, 7.07 ERA, and 11 HR's in 62 innings. Clearly the future of the Mets bullpen.

What do you think he cost, a nickel?

1) I'd do that, and it may be enough depending on what the Yanks & the BoSox offer. (Jim Callis of BA has a good chat going on ESPN where he's addressed trade matchups. He thinks Melky & Kennedy are overrated, and the Yanks aren't willing to giveup Joba or Hughes. He thinks the Mets prospects may not be enough for Haren, much less Santana, and that Blanton is more likely. He sees the BoSox as most likely to have a Santana package.)
2)Yes
3) Probably, but Angelos always stops big Os' trades (see the 3-way Oswalt deal), so I wouldn't let this long-shot delay another deal.
4) Yes
5) NFW. Willis is on a fast path to bottom-of-the-rotation journeyman. This is not the D-Train of 3 or 4 years ago.

The thing with Bedard is that there was alot of speculation that he wants to sign in Toronto when he hits Free Agency because he's from Canada. So a contract extension for Bedard is a must in my eyes. No extension window, no deal.

The thing I like about Bedard (besides his obvious talent) is the fact that it will allow us to utilize the one thing we have in abundance -- money. If we agree to take back the bloated contracts of someone like Hernandez and/or Huff, we should be able to minimize our prospect loss. There's really no one on the A's or Twins that we could agree to take back as sort of a salary dump that might prove to be useful to us.

I'd be happy with Santana, Haren or Bedard, but if we're going to take someone else's salary dump, at least make if for a player that would be useful. Hernandez or Huff would fit that bill.

Nice Breakdown and good possibilities. But If Omar is able to swing a deal for Bedard & Hernandez, I would think that Estrada would almost certainly be part of that deal. That could save us a prospect.

OK, Omar bashers, he's not sleeping... Let's see what we know to be his shopping list---

1) Santana
1a) Haren
1a) Bedard
2) Blanton
2a) Willis?

I am a firm believer that we will have one of these 5 pitchers on the Mets next year. It is also possible we might be blown away by someone else, perhaps a pitcher previously thought to have been unavailable.

As to the point above, I think that initial package for Santana is too much. Also, If we make a big trade for Santana or someone else, Omar must keep the remaining "A" prospects, either to fill the remaining holes or as a hedge against injury.

My trade proposals for some of the above, by the way:

1) Santana: Gomez, FMart, Humber and Guerra

1a) Haren: Milledge, Heilman and Jon Niese

1a) Bedard (and Hernandez): Gomez, Pelfrey, Humber and FMart

2) Blanton: Milledge, Gotay and A prospect (Kunz?)

2a) Willis: Milledge and A prospect
