Maybe he's actually trying to build a team that will at least compete for years to come, instead of blowing his whole load on one guy. Just a thought. I'm kind of tired of watching the Mets fall to pieces a year after each postseason appearance. I hope every damned one of those prospects and young players everyone wants shipped out of town is on the Mets next year. And if they're not, I want them all to be MVP candidates, just to shut you people up.

for the "ace" pitchers, personally, realizing the mets have no shot at yohan, ive wanted haren all along out of the pool.

with that said. PLEASE DON'T TRADE MILLEDGE
after passing up on a possible milledge for oswalt deal a couple years back, and then backing out of a milledge for zito deal, his stock has plumetted faster then his rapping ability. Give the man a year to start at right field and show everybody why he was once considered the best outfielding prospect in baseball.

ps. does anybody remember gomez feasting on slow lazy fastballs like moyers (2hrs in one game at shea)....i dont think hes ready, yet for some reason teams are in love with him. trade him while his value is high, not milledges while it is low.

Perhaps Omar should look at it this way: If this is the value of Garza, maybe he should target younger players who have legit breakout potential.

How about the Brewers? They need a closer, plus we've already fleeced them once. We could start talking with Aaron Heilman for one of their quality young arms. They have a ton of guys who should be quite good in 2008. Ben Sheets, Jeff Suppan and Dave Bush are the locks for their rotation, but there's then Yovani Gallardo, Manny Parra, Carlos Villanueva, Chris Capuano, and Claudio Vargas. I could see adding Mike Pelfrey into the conversation and having a shot somewhere in there (I'd have levels of interest in all except Vargas) plus a solid low level prospect like Jeremy Jeffress or Angel Salome. The Brew Crew gets their closer and still have a strong contingent of young starters to fill out their rotation, and the Mets get a more advanced young pitcher and some filler for the lower parts of the system that could come in handy in a year or two.

no... but the trading for OP and Maine sure do. As well as the great contracts he signed wright and reyes to. As well as the fact that he has a nice farm that is slowly (it takes years to build a farm) getting better. Some of his drafts have not worked out... but he makes up for it with his Dominican scouting.

Only one team wins every year guys.... some perspective

is it me... Or has beene over valued Blanton by alot? Why in the world would Blanton be considered better than Loshe or Silva? Blanton has pitched like a back of the rotation guy while pitching in a pitchers park and has 2 lousy offensive teams in that division an era very close to 5 two year ago. Hell Zito had better numbers in Oakland than Blanton and he moved to the NL and you saw what happened there. Blanton is a probably a 4th starter, and i am Beene I would be dying to rip of the mets like what happened in the mark mulder trade. I am sure Omar will overpay for Blanton because he thinks he is an ace blah blah blah... FOR THE LOVE OF GOD OMAR, DON'T GET BLANTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!! unless it is for an average prospect, and you want him to be a back of the rotation guy. You can get a Joe Blanton on the market

I don't know what games you watch but Beltran is one of if not the best centerfielders in the game. And he is only 30 years old.
