great point. We fans have a very short leash when we are in the middle of a “win now” phase. I would love to build the future on Reyes, Wright, Beltran, FMart, Gomez, Mulvey, Pelfrey, Humber, Carp………..But how many “lumps” would we take before we are screaming for someones blood???? I don’t disagree though.

I am not ready to say that Omar got B*slapped on the Milledge trade just yet…
if he turns around and packages Church with a couple of prospects and brings back something good, then it could just turn out to be a stroke of genius.
That said… I am pretty friggin nervous.

Beane always asks ffor the moon but the fact that we cannot even get Cliff Lee is saddening. What tells me that Omar is clueless and make most terrible moves since he is under pressure to win now. For me, I whether see Mets develop their prospects or raise their value.

What do you guys think?

wasnt cliff lee in the minors for a period of time this year? mitty, no it doesnt mean he’ll deal him to us but you have to admit at least hearing theres a meeting with the O’s is good, just wish jim duquette was on the other side of that table from omar.

Who cares about pressure.. the guy faced better lineups then the Nats, Marlins, and whatever other creap teams owned us down the stretch.

If 5 years Banniser will have a much better career in the Burgos..

Considering Burgos did nothing in 07.. is out for all of 08.. and part of 09. yeah..

If Burgos ever throws a meaninful pitch for the mets again I wil be surprsed.

1.12 Whip.. he got a ton of ground balls.. Wang doesn’t strike a lot of people out, and he’s doing just fine.

i don think u can look at it that way.. Bannister was up and down before he blew out his hammy runnig the bases. And he hasnt pitched ina pressure packed situation since blowing out his hammy..

he was extremely lucky last year.. his BABIP was 264 . He is a fly ball pitcher who doesnt strike out anyone. He is close to Steve Trachsel in comparisons.

So he got lucky on a horrible team.. I don t shed tears for Brian Bannister. Over 5 years things will even out and he’ll show to be average at best.

Doesn’t this make sense for US ?
As it doesn’t look like Omar is going to be able to pull off
anything for a real #1 or 2 .
