The Braves have offered LHP Chuck James to the
Royals for OF David DeJesus, reports the Kansas City Star, with the Rangers expressing interest in DeJesus, as well.
…dejesus is clearly atlanta’s attempt to replace Andruw Jones in center field…the thing is, dejesus is not nearly smug enough to fill that role…
…i kid, andruw, i kid…
…i mean, what do you expect from a Mets fan…

James is a LHP not RHP
And a Mets killer…
Exactly. This does not look like a good deal for atlanta. everyone’s looking to obtain pitching, them unloading chuck james, who is arguably their #2 is unreasonable. he’s young and a lefty and pitches well against the NL east. this would be a huge mistake by the braves….that said…i love it, pull the trigger, ATL!!!
You mean #4. Smoltz > Hudson > Glavine.
James is better than Glavine at this point.
Who here would be against getting Andruw Jones for a 1 year rental?? He could maybe get his level of play back… Maybe play RF?????? Work up his value?? Seems like he wants to stay in the NL… No arbitration so we wouldn’tgive ATL a draft pick…
Why not 1 year $14 Mil plus incentives…
If he were to accept a 1 year deal he’d be in atlanta already….he’s looking for a 5 year deal…widely rumored….
He won’t be getting one…
Right now he might settle for a 2 year deal…
I’d oppose it. It wasn’t bad enough when Cameron ran into Beltran — now you want Andruw to run into Beltran too?
I can just see the posts: “he was a Braves saboteur all along”…
Why do you want a fat, lazy, surly, out-of-position CF who’s skills are already declining at the tender age of 29?!?!
I’ll take my chances with Church thank you very much.
Let the small-market teams take on these expensive reclamation projects. Anyway, didn’t we learn our lesson with out of position players after the Zeile and Cameron debacles??
And Chuck James for DeJesus??? How dumb do the braves think the Royals are?
let’s not forget that he’s won 10 gold gloves at cf. he probably is too proud, as he should be, to move.
Figures one of the few Rutgers guys would end up down in Atlanta…
Imagaine if that trade goes down.. and DeJesus gets to replace Beltran and now Jones in back to back cities
That guy must have the mother of all Jan Brady complexes…
these atlanta hats are horrible
lol
I’d reject that trade, who wants Chuck James? And Chuck James in the American League? Yikes
Royals can do better than Chuck James for David DeJesus. Remember they got virtually nothing in return (Kyle Davies) for Dotel last year when Dotel could have been traded for an actual prospect or two. Dont know if they are gunna let the Braves do that again. James is a nice lefty with a big changeup but i still think they can do better
Off topic, but why don’t the Mets look to take Tejada off Baltimore’s hands in a Bedard deal, then eat his salary and spin him off?
What we can’t match in prospects we can make up for with the ability to assume risk on Tejada, woh they desp want to get out from under.
Keep up Matt. Angels offering Weaver for Santana in a package.
I don’t see what the point of it is…it’s creating a weakness to fill another.
They do this, and their rotation is weak again with Smoltz, Hudson, Glavine, Jurrjens, Reyes (Assuming Hampton won’t be healthy, which he never is).

• The Orioles and Dodgers may be close on a deal that will send left-hander Erik Bedard to Los Angeles, a baseball source said. The O’s are in need of a center fielder and a closer who can play at the major league level, and the Dogders seem willing to part with outfielder Matt Kemp and reliever Jonathan Broxton, who could come in a close in lieu of Chris Ray, out for the year after Tommy John surgery. “They want Bedard bad,” said the source.
WFAN:
Bedard to LA for Kemp & Broxton? Great.
Dodgers to send Kemp and Broxton to O’s for Bedard…
M&MD are reporting that this deal is on the table. It’s already better than the Mets can offer.
Jeez, that was fast (and blindingly obvious).
We are screwed!! So long Division championships…hello cellar dwellers….the Nats are having a better off season then we are…christ!!
How about the Mets send Heilman and Mulvey for Broxton
Like I’ve been saying, we get Livan…
No way will Bedard be had for those two and not get a starter in return…
This whole process is such an indictment on the Mets talent. Omar is gonna spew all kinds of nonsense about how the Orioles or A’s were asking for too much when the truth is the Mets have nothing to trade. I can’t even stand the thought of watching old or inconsistent starters all year. And if there is any doubt any rag tag lefty won’t eat up the Mets, get used to watching Delgado Church go down like girls at their high school prom as well as Beltran Reyes and Castillo not producing from the right side. Although I did forget how Schneider will likely rake against lefties!
This will not be a pretty ‘08
well, in light of what we are seeing, do you think reyes for santana sounds better?
gotta send gomez, martinez, pelfrey, and heilman if you can…however this prob still isn;t even better than broxton and kemp. At this point id throw add humber and mulvey to those 4 to get bedard…we cant still be waiting here sitting on our hands bc if we continue to do that we’ll never win a championship…bedard might be the missing piece and im willing to give every and all prospects we have to get him…ill take 5 years out of a guy with cy young stuff for my 5 best prospects.
They want people who have proven something in the Majors. We’ve got squat.
Tell Willie to give the younger kids a shot, instead of pitching Brian Lawrence. Maybe Humber would of been worth something
Ugh…I finally had a Rutgers player I could root for, but now he may go to the Braves…figures.

Bedard to Dodgers??? Damn!

Way to go Omar! Haha..
swing and a miss, and Omar Minaya goes down on strikes….
can we just get bullpen help, if LA is going to trade Brroxton see what it takes to get him. The bullpen was a mian reason for the depressing season last year.
Where are the team of Metsblog guys, missing all these supposed trades. Waver for Santan, Berdard to the Dodgers, come on, do your jobs!
I would normally say “wow” in disgust, but now that MetsBlog is in partnership with SNY, I guess I’d have to agree…
wtf!?? wasnt Omar meeting w/the O’s brass like 2 friggin hours ago?? did they kick him out ???? Omar you are a freakin dummy…I love the Mets but I cant stand the fact that we are not going to land anyone of importance o our staff…so we have to hope Maine and Perez dont regress..and pray Pedro and Duque stay healthy and pray one of the young guns if not both step up and produce 12 win seasons….it is going to be a long , crappy summer. Thanks Omar!
Omar has NOTHING TO TRADE except Reyes or Wright — maybe Maine. Want to give up those guys? O’s and A’s want Major League ready talent. They may love F-Mart, but they don’t want to have to wait and watch him get hurt in AAA. They want someone who has cut his teeth in the bigs and can do something in ‘08 with the big club. Whether it’s the luck of the draw or not, the Mets farm system failed them, here.
I’m glad to see someone sees the light here. Everybody is going to blame Omar. He has nothing to do with it. He signed Martinez and Guerra, it’s funny how those 2 are the only ones that have trade value. Hopefully Humber and Pelfrey can gain some value during the season. Maybe we’ll see our big gun in June or July.
Yeah, as currently constructed, the Mets will battle the Bravos for 2nd place. 84-86 wins, maybe.
If Minaya signs Livan and tries to sell it to us as “huge”, I’ll be FURIOUS.
Mets starting rotation for next year:
Pedro
Maine
Perez
Livan
Pelfrey
GET USED TO IT PEOPLE.
I’d rather have Colon
Livan makes zero sense. Even SIlva at this point is a better choice.
Besides, if Duque is supposed to be in the rotation, you van have both of them together. That would be ugly.
Remember, the SP was OK till they wore out a bit and faded. ANd this rotation is better than last years opener.
Big differences? Pedro over Glavine, and O&P both have another years experience, and potentailly could take a step up.
Pelfrey should also be better. He has to be! ANd Maybe Duque had enough of an overhaul to last until the ASB.
