Buzz: Brewers eyeing Scott Rolen
By Matthew Cerrone - Dec 4, 2007 12:11 pm

The Cardinals are in serious talks with the Brewers, who have requested medical records for 3B Scott Rolen, reports the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, as well as the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Jon Heyman, at SI.com, writes that in addition to the Brewers, the Dodgers, Rangers and Giants have also expressed interest in Rolen, who has three years and $36 million remaining on his contract

wonder what Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder think about this rumor?

    • kevin2elster21 says:

They want to move Braun to OF since he plays third like Grandma Moses.

      • GravediggerHebner says:

then it makes more sense, though Braun should hold onto his 3B mitt for when Rolen rolls to the DL for 90 games

        • kevin2elster21 says:

90games? wow that’d be a good season for him.

the guy’s a wuss. he didn’t want to lead in phila and cried his way out. then he fell like a house of cards when hee seop choi barely touched him

  2. ravi3 says:

This would be a great move for them, though a guy like Feliz would be a better fit–comparable with the glove but Pedro doesn’t have the injury concerns that exist with Rolen.

Braun moves to LF in this scenario

  3. firemetmanagement says:

Why aren’t the Yankees in on Cabrera, Willis, and Rolen? Come on they need to add a few more players and spend some more money. Teams like the Mets have done enough. Yankees need to be more active and aggressive.

    Yeah, whatever.

    Fire Minaya.

Has Omar arrived at the meetings yet?

  5. born2run01 says:

Rolen has a no-trade and wants to live in the mid-west (saw this sometime since last night, not sure where).

Do I do this every year? Do I really sit here at work and hit reload on the metsblog page every 30 seconds – 2 minutes and wait for a new post to pop up, only to be disappointed in the lack of new news?

And then at the end of December and possibly the end of January, nothing really big happens, yet I probably spend a good 24 hours total time checking to see if something happened?

    Is this really my life?

I just read that Kevin Mench may be nontendered. He would be perfect for a platoon with Church. He absolutely kills LHP. He hit .313 and had a .558 slugging percentage. Those numbers are in line with his career average as well.

I’m listening to a live broadcast from the meetings – they say that Omar is locked in a room with the O’s GM – lots of jokes there, but they are discussing our newest pitcher :)

    • Steal Home Jose! says:

Is this on the web? or is it a local or satellite station?

      • jaxson says:

It’s from the Web, but it’s hard to hear and the talk is jumping around. The link was on the Hot Foot page. I can’t hear anything now.

        • Steal Home Jose! says:

I found a link on mlb.com for the winter meetings. It’s video, I’m not sure if it’s free, of if it was included as part of my 07 mlb.tv package. Either way, I’m getting my fix…

    • GravediggerHebner says:

“…so now we’d like to let our new pitcher field your questions. Anybody like to ask Daniel Cabrera anything?”

    • kevin2elster21 says:

      Who reported it? Sweeny Murti?

  9. christian warrior says:

    This deal can’t be close.

If the Brewers just requested Rolen’s health records, they won’t be done going through them for weeks.

  10. iluvbuckner says:

at least the mets killer would be out of the division
